About this role
POSITION SUMMARY
Teradyne is seeking a Sales Administration Manager to own the sales administration function across APAC. This is a people-leadership role accountable for the outcome of the region’s quote-to-cash process — its accuracy, cycle time, compliance and customer experience — delivered through a team of sales administrators rather than by the manager personally.
The manager leads the sales administrators supporting the region’s sales organization. They set the standards the team works to, train and develop the team against those standards, hold the team accountable for results, and step in personally only on escalations, exceptions and the highest-risk transactions.
Beyond running the region, this role owns the region’s improvement agenda: identifying where the process is slow, manual or error-prone, sponsoring the system enhancements and tooling needed to fix it, and partnering with peer Sales Administration Managers in other regions to converge on a single global quote-to-cash standard.
The successful candidate combines operational and control discipline with the commercial judgment to make calls on complex, high-value capital equipment transactions, and the leadership presence to build a high-performing, geographically dispersed team.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
This role is accountable for results delivered through a team. The manager sets the standard, trains and equips the team to meet it, holds the team accountable, and owns the outcome — engaging personally on escalations, exceptions and improvement work rather than on routine transaction processing.
Ownership and Accountability
- Own the outcome of sales administration for the region — quote accuracy and turnaround, clean order entry and booking, on-time invoicing, and the compliance and auditability of every transaction — and answer for those results to regional sales leadership and to global sales operations.
- Define the service levels, quality standards and operating cadence the team works to, publish them to the sales organization, and manage the team to them.
- Hold the team accountable through clear individual goals, regular one-on-ones, performance reviews, and visible metrics on quality, cycle time and backlog health.
- Retain personal decision authority on escalations, exceptions, non-standard terms and high-risk or strategically significant transactions, rather than absorbing routine transactional work.
- Own the region’s control environment for sales administration: ensure controls are designed, operating and evidenced, and take ownership of any audit or control finding through to closure.
- Escalate risks, capacity constraints and systemic problems early, with a recommendation attached.
Team Leadership, Training and Development
- Build and lead the regional sales administration team: workforce planning, hiring, onboarding, structure and role design.
- Own the training program for the team — onboarding curriculum, system and process training, refreshers when policy or tooling changes, and certification on critical steps such as order acceptance and export screening.
- Coach individually and develop bench strength: identify high performers, build career paths, address underperformance directly and promptly.
- Own the coverage and cross-training model so that quarter-end and fiscal year-end peaks, absences, attrition and territory changes never become single points of failure.
- Own regional desk procedures and work instructions as living documents, and hold the team accountable for working to the documented process rather than to personal habit.
- Set the tone for a service-oriented culture in which the team is regarded by the sales organization as a trusted business partner, not a transactional back office.
Quote-to-Cash Process Ownership
- Be accountable for every regional booking meeting Teradyne’s order acceptance and revenue recognition criteria, with a complete and auditable documentation trail behind it.
- Own backlog health for the region: set the review cadence on open orders, scheduled ship dates, holds, credit blocks and change orders, and drive resolution with Sales, Planning and Fulfillment.
- Serve as the single regional escalation point for quote, order, invoicing and credit issues, and require root-cause correction rather than repeat workarounds.
Process Improvement, Systems and Tooling
- Own the region’s continuous-improvement agenda: systematically hunt out inefficiency — rework, manual handoffs, duplicate data entry, unnecessary approval hops, swivel-chair work between systems — and eliminate it.
- Proactively identify and recommend new tooling, automation and reporting capability, including opportunities to templatize, auto-populate or fully automate steps the team performs manually today.
- Sponsor change on behalf of the region: represent regional requirements in system design, lead user acceptance testing, own training and adoption, and confirm the benefit was actually realized after go-live.
Forecast Accountability and Business Reporting
- Be accountable for the integrity and timeliness of the data underpinning the region’s bookings, revenue and shipment forecast, and partner with regional sales leadership on the weekly and monthly forecast cadence.
- Own CRM forecast hygiene standards — opportunity stages, close dates, configurations, quantities, pricing and probability — and hold the team and, in partnership with sales leadership, the sales organization accountable for meeting them.
Global Standardization and Cross-Region Leadership
- Serve as an active member of the global sales administration leadership group, working with peer regional managers to define, document and adopt one standard quote-to-cash process across all Teradyne regions.
- Challenge regional process variation: distinguish genuine legal, tax or customer-driven requirements from historical local practice, and commit the region to the global standard wherever variation is not truly required.
- Co-own global process documentation, definitions, data standards, approval matrices and service-level expectations, and be accountable for the region operating to them.
- Contribute reusable solutions, templates and tooling to the other regions, and adopt improvements developed elsewhere rather than sponsoring parallel local builds.
- Lead the region through global sales operations initiatives, system migrations and harmonization programs, and own regional readiness and adoption.
Business Partnership
- Act as the accountable sales administration leader for regional sales leadership and account teams.
- Create partnerships with regions operations, finance, and other key groups.
QUALIFICATIONS
Required
- Ten or more years of progressive experience in sales administration, sales operations, order management, contracts administration or commercial operations, including at least three years directly managing people.
- Demonstrated accountability for a quote-to-cash or order-to-cash process in a multi-country environment — owning the outcome, not only executing the steps.
- Track record of leading a team to measurable improvement in quality, cycle time or productivity.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to influence senior sales, finance and legal stakeholders without direct authority.
Language
Fluency in English is required.
WORK ENVIRONMENT AND TRAVEL
- 20% travel required.
- Travel within APAC to Teradyne regional offices, with periodic travel to Headquarters in North Reading.
- Regular participation in global sales operations governance meetings held across time zones.
Benefits
Teradyne offers a variety of robust health and well-being benefit programs, including medical claims, group insurance, retirement plans, paid vacation & holidays, tuition assistance programs, and more.
