About this role
Are you a commercially driven, hands-on person with a strong interest in biotechnology and agriculture? Do you enjoy building partnerships, developing new business opportunities and taking ownership in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment?
OlsAro Crop Biotech is looking for a Business & Operations Developer to join our growing team in Gothenburg.
This is a broad role with a strong focus on business development, complemented by involvement in business operations and company development. We are looking for someone who wants to help grow OlsAro commercially while also enjoying the variety and responsibility that come with building a fast-moving technology company.
About OlsAro
OlsAro Crop Biotech is a Swedish agtech company developing solutions for more climate-resilient agriculture. With wheat as our first focus, we develop improved crop genetics and technologies addressing challenges including salinity, heat and resource efficiency.
Our SeedAX™ platform combines proprietary genetics, trait discovery and advanced technologies to accelerate the identification and development of valuable crop traits.
Following our recent seed funding round, we are entering an exciting phase of accelerated technology development, expanded international field validation and company growth.
The Role
As Business & Operations Developer, you will work closely with the business and operations team, R&D and company leadership, with a primary focus on business development, commercial partnerships and international customer relationships.
You will identify and develop new business opportunities, build relationships with seed companies and other industry partners, and help move collaborations from initial dialogue towards concrete projects and commercial agreements.
A key part of the role is being able to understand both the science and the business opportunity. You will work closely with our R&D team to translate technologies, traits and data into relevant propositions for customers and partners.
As part of a small and growing company, the role also includes selected business operations and company development responsibilities. This may include driving internal projects, supporting public funding activities, improving processes and contributing to planning and reporting. These activities are a continuing part of the role and provide broad exposure to how OlsAro develops as a company.
OlsAro operates in an international and fast-moving environment. Opportunities and priorities develop quickly, and we are looking for someone who enjoys taking initiative, building relationships and making things happen without waiting for a predefined playbook.
Key Responsibilities
Business Development & Partnerships
- Identify, evaluate and develop new business opportunities within the international seed and crop biotech industry
- Build and develop relationships with seed companies, breeders and other industry partners
- Develop and manage OlsAro’s commercial pipeline and ensure structured and proactive follow-up
- Support and increasingly lead customer meetings, proposals, commercial discussions and negotiations
- Drive existing collaborations forward and help develop successful projects and trials into longer-term commercial relationships
- Analyse markets, customers, competitors and industry developments to identify opportunities and support commercial priorities
- Work closely with R&D to translate OlsAro’s technologies, traits and data into relevant customer propositions
- Support international field trials, validation collaborations and partner activities
Business Operations & Company Development
- Drive selected operational and cross-functional projects
- Support public funding applications, funded projects and reporting
- Contribute to business planning, performance follow-up and management materials
- Develop and improve selected internal processes and ways of working
- Support strategic and company-wide initiatives as OlsAro grows
Who We Are Looking For
We are looking for someone with commercial curiosity, analytical ability and a strong drive to execute - someone who genuinely enjoys working in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment.
You enjoy developing relationships and business opportunities but are also comfortable rolling up your sleeves and taking ownership of broader company priorities when needed. You may spend one day preparing for a meeting with an international seed company, the next analysing a new market opportunity and the next driving an internal project.
Because our business is built around crop genetics and biotechnology, we have a strong preference for candidates with a background in biotechnology, plant science, agronomy, breeding or another relevant life-science field. You do not need to be a scientist, but you should be comfortable understanding technical concepts and translating them into business opportunities.
We think you:
- Have a relevant university degree, preferably within biotechnology, plant science, agronomy, breeding, life science or a related field
- Have experience in business development, commercial partnerships, consulting, project management or business operations
- Have experience in sales and commercial pipeline development, preferably managing the full sales cycle - from prospecting and lead qualification through structured follow-up, negotiation and closing
- Are commercially curious and enjoy identifying and developing new opportunities
- Enjoy building relationships with international customers and partners
- Have strong analytical skills and can translate complex technical and commercial information into clear propositions
- Thrive in a fast-paced environment where priorities and opportunities can change quickly
- Take initiative and have a strong sense of ownership
- Are structured and able to manage several projects and priorities simultaneously
- Are pragmatic and comfortable moving between commercial, strategic and operational activities
- Communicate confidently and professionally in English
- Enjoy working in a small team where everyone contributes beyond their formal responsibilities
Previous experience from the seed industry, crop biotechnology, plant breeding, agtech or another relevant biotech environment is a strong advantage.
Experience from a startup, scale-up or other high-growth organisation is also highly valued.
You do not necessarily need to be a senior Business Developer today. We are interested in someone with relevant experience, high potential and the ambition to take increasing responsibility as OlsAro grows.
Why OlsAro?
You will join a small international team working at the intersection of biotechnology, agriculture and climate resilience.
You will have the opportunity to work directly with international customers and partners while gaining broad exposure across technology, markets, strategy and company building. You will have significant responsibility from the start and the opportunity to shape both the role and OlsAro’s continued development.
For the right person, the role offers significant opportunity to grow and take increasing ownership of business development, partnerships and commercial activities, while remaining closely involved in the broader development of the company.
