Medical Science Liaison

About the Role

The Medical Science Liaison (MSL) supports the medical affairs strategy for assigned client products within DKSH's Healthcare business in Malaysia, contributing to the successful delivery of integrated brand plan objectives in accordance with business priorities. This role serves as a critical scientific bridge between DKSH, its clients, and the broader healthcare community, translating complex medical information into meaningful dialogue that advances patient care and brand outcomes.

What You Will Deliver

- Identify disease and product-related medical needs within a defined geography to inform and shape the medical affairs strategy for assigned client products

- Establish frequent and timely interactions with Thought Leaders (TLs) and Healthcare Providers (HCPs) aligned with client medical strategies, to discuss the safe and appropriate use of approved products and pharmacoeconomic data

- Respond to unsolicited questions on current medical and scientific issues, healthcare advances, treatment trends, and health outcomes measures from nationally and regionally recognized scientific and clinical leaders, medical advisors, and patient advocacy-focused HCPs

- Deliver high-quality presentations to healthcare decision-makers in response to unsolicited questions, using relevant and approved materials

- Translate complex scientific information and data into high-quality medical dialogue, drawing on a sophisticated understanding of the pharmaceutical and healthcare industry, including commercial and government payer strategies and evolving healthcare delivery models

- Demonstrate and maintain in-depth knowledge of related therapeutic areas to credibly and effectively engage with clinical and scientific stakeholders

- Identify and train client-contracted speakers or internal team members where alignment with the medical plan and product lifecycle needs is established

- Identify, collect, and communicate insights on competitive medical information, as well as trends and changes affecting the regulatory and payer environment, to support the development of robust medical strategies

- Contribute to project management responsibilities as required

What You Bring

- Terminal doctoral degree — Doctor of Medicine (MD), Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD), or Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) — is preferred; a life or health science degree with experience in a pharmaceutical environment and Medical Affairs department is also considered

- Minimum 3 years of working experience in a clinical or pharmaceutical environment, excluding post-doctoral education

- In-depth knowledge of a scientific or clinical area and relevant disease areas, including familiarity with key scientific publications

- Good understanding of clinical research principles, the Malaysia healthcare system, the local pharmaceutical industry, and clinical and health economic practices

- Sound knowledge and understanding of the industry, market, competitors, and customers, with a proven track record in assigned products, services, or systems and an established network of contacts

- Sound knowledge of regulatory requirements for products within assigned territories, including handling procedures, shelf life, and warranties

- Strong communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills with the ability to build and sustain meaningful relationships with key stakeholders

- Advanced research and analytical capabilities with strong conceptual thinking

- Ability to work independently and willingness to travel as required by geography

- Fluent in English, both written and spoken
