Senior Mobile Engineer (Android MP)

Join a team driving the next generation of Android development for a major, high-traffic consumer app. You’ll work at the core of an ambitious mobile modernisation effort — building high-quality Kotlin features, supporting modularisation, and helping explore new hybrid approaches.
Working closely with the Technical Architect and other engineers, you’ll be hands-on in delivering scalable, performant code while contributing to architectural improvements and platform evolution.

The Impact You’ll Make and Technology Stack

- Of our architectural direction is to validate the viability of Kotlin Multiplatform (KMP) as a tool to embed reusable business logic across our two native platforms. We're looking for experienced, senior/lead Kotlin engineers. The perfect candidate will have the following attributes:

Deep knowledge of Kotlin

- Demonstrable, recent, production experience with Kotlin Multiplatform, ideally including cross-platform modules for Android and ios

- A strong familiarity with the ioS/Swift ecosystem

- Deep knowledge of the Android ecosystem

- Extensive experience building mobile applications for a large audience, ideally in a news/publishing/media setting

- Familiarity with hybrid applications, web technologies and JavaScript (e.g. the ability to debug webviews)

- Practical understanding of software architecture concepts and their implementation

Technology Stack & Requirements

- 5–7 years of Android development experience, primarily with Kotli (MP)

- Experience working on high-traffic, consumer-facing mobile applications.

- Solid understanding of Android SDK, lifecycle management, coroutines, and performance optimisation.

- Comfortable navigating Gradle builds, dependency management, and CI/CD pipelines.

- Familiarity with modular architectures (e.g., feature modules, clean architecture).

- Ability to read and maintain legacy Java code when needed.
