What You'll Do
We are seeking a strong candidate to join BCG’s Industrial Goods, Metals and Mining practice team in Düsseldorf.
You can work up to 20 hours/week during your semesters and up to 40 hours/week during your vacation time. The role offers enough flexibility to combine personal, academic and professional life, with an expected workload of approximately two working days per week. This is a temporary role from min. 12 to max. 24 months. You need to be an enrolled university student in Germany.
What You'll Do
- Support the development of data-driven and GenAI-enabled analytical tools for BCG’s steel and metals team
- Develop and improve workflows to analyze large and complex datasets, including global trade, industrial assets, market, technical, and financial data
- Use GenAI and modern coding tools to automate research, data collection, processing, and analysis at scale
- Create, enhance, and maintain databases, analytical models, and benchmarking tools
- Experiment with new GenAI applications, data sources, and analytical approaches and translate promising ideas into practical tools
- Support analysts with strategic research, quantitative analysis, and rapid problem solving

- Creatively researching, analyzing, and synthesizing information from a wide range of sources
- Working with large amounts of data and identifying patterns, inconsistencies, and meaningful insights

- Collaborating effectively in an international and interdisciplinary environment
What You'll Bring
- Ongoing Bachelor’s or Master’s studies with high academic achievements (industrial engineering, mathematics, statistics, or similar)
- Strong analytical and quantitative problem-solving skills
- Curiosity and hands-on interest in GenAI, AI-assisted coding, data analytics, and research automation
- Interest in analyzing technical, industrial, market, and competitive information along multiple dimensions
- Comfort working with data and digital tools; experience with Python, SQL, or similar analytical tools is a plus
- A strong willingness to experiment, learn quickly, and develop new solutions
- Very good English communication skills
Who You'll Work With
You will be part of a team of steel analysts in Düsseldorf, and collaborating with analysts and tool developers in India.

The team of steel analysts is part of a global team of analysts and experts in BCG’s Industrial Goods practice. We collaborate daily with consultants and analysts from other regions, industries, and functional areas to support clients in the global metals space.
