Program Manager, Data Center Construction

As a Program Manager at Google, you’ll lead complex, multi-disciplinary projects from start to finish — working with stakeholders to plan requirements, manage project schedules, identify risks, and communicate clearly with cross-functional partners across the company. Your projects will often span offices, time zones, and hemispheres. It's your job to coordinate the players and keep them up to date on progress and deadlines.

As a highly motivated Program Manager, you have demonstrated experience with data center design, development, construction and commissioning projects. You will provide management of large-scale data centers, computer farms, networking, AC and DC power distribution/conversion, and cooling methods at multiple scales. You will be tasked with juggling and coordinating the desires and needs of multiple partner teams, while managing changes and maintaining a focus on keeping the project on schedule and budget.

You will have experience managing large scale technical projects in a rapidly changing industry, ability to thrive in ambiguity and demonstrated problem-solving leadership with limited oversight. You should be able to conceptualize and describe the delivery of a data center facility from start to commissioning and understand the nuances and risks that you and your team will need to manage.

Individual pay is determined by factors including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.

US: $188000 - $274000 (USD) + 20% bonus target + equity + benefits

Minimum qualifications:

- Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.

- 8 years of experience in program or project management.

- 8 years of experience in design, development, and construction projects for data centers or mission critical industries.

- 5 years of experience in a leadership role.

Preferred qualifications:

- Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Mechanical or Industrial Engineering, Construction Management or related technical fields.

- 8 years of experience managing cross-functional or cross-team projects.

- 8 years of work experience with data center equipment/environments, including electrical switchgear, generators, chillers, cooling towers, air handling units, controls, security monitoring systems and fire safety systems, with an understanding of start up/commissioning processes.

- Experience managing vendor relationships and understanding of standard practices in the design and construction industry, including knowledge of fast track design build processes and associated documents and agreements.

- Demonstrated knowledge of safety management best practices.

- Manage data center projects from inception through to completion.

- Support special research and development experiments, renovations, and upgrades of existing facility.

- Be responsible for gathering internal requirements and delivering solutions that satisfy customer needs.

- Maintain end-to-end responsibility from construction to deployment.

- Resolve highly critical issues within matrix organization while maintaining rigorous adherence to project timelines and costs.
