Teaching Fellow in Accounting and Finance

De Montfort University Dubai is seeking a Teaching Fellow in Accounting and Finance for an 11-month fixed-term appointment to provide high-quality, student-centred teaching and academic support across relevant undergraduate and postgraduate programmes. The postholder will contribute to module delivery, assessment, student support, academic administration and the continued development of the subject area.
The role requires strong subject expertise in Accounting and Finance, effective teaching practice, and the ability to support students within a British higher-education environment. The postholder will work collaboratively with programme and teaching teams and contribute positively to the wider academic life of the Faculty. Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and deliver engaging lectures, seminars, tutorials and other scheduled teaching in Accounting and Finance-related subjects.
- Support students in their academic learning and provide appropriate guidance, tutoring and consultation.
- Lead modules where allocated, including planning delivery, preparing learning materials and coordinating module activities.
- Develop, set, mark and moderate assessments at undergraduate and postgraduate levels in line with University requirements.
- Provide timely, constructive feedback and maintain accurate academic and assessment records.
- Contribute to the development and review of modules, curriculum content and the wider Accounting and Finance subject area.
- Participate fully in University and Faculty quality assurance processes and comply with relevant academic policies and procedures.
- Support programme teams with course reports, programme and assessment boards, student recruitment, enrolment, induction and Faculty events as required.
- Engage with relevant industry and professional practice to support curriculum relevance and student employability.
- Contribute to appropriate scholarly activity and maintain current subject and professional knowledge.
- Work collegiately with academic and professional-services colleagues and undertake other duties appropriate to the level of the role.
Required Qualifications and Experience
- A relevant honours degree (BA/BSc) in Accounting, Finance, or a closely related discipline.
- A relevant postgraduate degree together with either a PhD in Finance, Accounting, or a related field, OR a relevant professional qualification such as ACCA, CA, or equivalent.
- The candidate’s highest academic qualification must be attested by the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) and must hold, or be eligible to obtain, a UAE Ministry of Education equivalency certificate
- Relevant Higher Education teaching experience in Accounting and/or Finance, with reasonable exposure to the UK Higher Education system through education and/or work experience.
- Strong subject knowledge across Financial Accounting, Financial Reporting, Management / Cost Accounting, Corporate Finance, Research Methods and Business / Data Analytics.
- Evidence of effective and innovative teaching and learning practice and the ability to deliver a high-quality student experience.
- Ability to lead modules, prepare teaching materials, set assessments, mark student work and provide constructive feedback.
- Evidence of scholarly or research activity with realistic potential for publication and continued academic development.
- Strong written, verbal, presentation and interpersonal communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a collaborative academic team.
- Ability to manage competing priorities, work under pressure and meet academic and administrative deadlines.
