DOT is seeking two Planners to join the Dining Out NYC (DONYC) team. NYC launched the groundbreaking program, DONYC during the height of COVID-19 emergency to expand outdoor dining options and help restaurants rebound in difficult economic times. The City has now transformed the emergency program into a safe, accessible, and attractive permanent program. Most recently legislating Roadway Dining as year-round, making the program a prominent fixture in the City's streetscape.

Under the direction of the Deputy Director of Planning, the Planners’ duties will include coordinating planning and policy with various other DOT units and City agencies; reviewing siting submissions from food service establishment owners; conducting site visits to assist with site plan development and ensure design standards are met; preparing agreements for participating establishments, among other duties. In addition, the selected candidate may also conduct studies, prepare appropriate reports, analyses and make recommendations on policies and procedures that further advance the mission of the unit.

Qualifications

1. A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and two years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to the duties described above; or
2. High school graduation or equivalent and six years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to the duties as described above; or
3. Education and/or experience which is equivalent to "1" or "2" above. However, all candidates must have at least one year of experience as described in "1" above.
