Vivarium Technician (Gene Therapy Research)

An ideal candidate will have a Bachelors Degree in a scientific field and experience with handling rodents such as mice or rats in a laboratory or research environment. Job Title: Vivarium Operations Technician Job Description The Vivarium Operations Technician supports daily vivarium operations by providing high-quality animal husbandry, ensuring animal welfare, and maintaining compliance with laboratory standards and procedures. This role focuses on the care, handling, and management of rodents in a modern laboratory environment, contributing to cell and gene therapy research in a brand-new, state-of-the-art facility. Responsibilities

- Perform daily animal husbandry tasks for study animals, including cage changes and routine care.
- Conduct daily checks on study animals to promote and monitor animal welfare, promptly reporting any concerns.
- Perform colony management tasks, including monitoring animal populations and maintaining accurate records.
- Oversee and perform routine maintenance of vivarium equipment and related systems.
- Receive rodents and ensure proper identification, housing, and documentation upon arrival.
- Assist in daily pest control checks to maintain a clean and compliant vivarium environment.
- Assist with the operation of cage wash systems, autoclaves, and laundry equipment to support facility sanitation.
- Evaluate and implement strategies to ensure operational compliance with internal and external standards.
- Perform additional related duties as required to support vivarium and laboratory operations.
- Adhere strictly to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and study protocols in all activities.
- Document all work with strict adherence to Good Laboratory Practices (GLPs) and Good Documentation Practices (GDP).
- Humanely and confidently handle rodents, ensuring safe and ethical treatment at all times.

Qualificatoins

- Bachelors Degree in a scientific field.
- Experience working with rodents in a laboratory and/or research environment.

This is a Permanent position based out of Columbus, OH.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $21.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
