Field Operations Engineering Support

The Field Operations Engineer plays a key role in the planning, coordination, and execution of component repower projects across the Vestas fleet. This position serves as a bridge between engineering, project management, field execution teams, contractors, and customers to ensure projects are delivered safely, efficiently, on schedule, and to the highest quality standards.

The ideal candidate is technically minded, highly organized, and comfortable working both in the field and in a project coordination environment. This role requires approximately 50% travel to wind farms and project sites throughout the United States.

Key Responsibilities

- Support the execution of component repower projects involving major wind turbine components including gearboxes, generators, blades, converters, transformers, hydraulic systems, and control systems.

- Coordinate field activities with site teams, contractors, project managers, engineers, and operational stakeholders.

- Provide on-site technical and operational support during project planning, mobilization, execution, and project closeout.

- Monitor project progress, identify risks, and proactively develop mitigation strategies to maintain schedule and budget objectives.

- Review engineering documentation, work instructions, lift plans, project schedules, and site-specific requirements.

- Assist with outage planning, resource allocation, tooling requirements, and logistics coordination.

- Support development and continuous improvement of standardized processes, procedures, and best practices across the Component Repower organization.

- Analyze operational, project, and performance data to identify trends and opportunities for efficiency improvements.

- Ensure compliance with Vestas safety standards, customer requirements, and applicable industry regulations.

- Conduct site assessments, quality inspections, and post-project reviews to capture lessons learned and support continuous improvement.

- Lead and participate in project meetings, providing updates to internal and external stakeholders.

- Collaborate closely with engineering, supply chain, service operations, and project management teams to resolve technical and operational challenges.

- Support customer communications by providing technical updates, project progress reports, and issue resolution.

- Promote a strong safety culture by reinforcing safe work practices and actively participating in risk assessments and hazard mitigation activities.

Qualifications

Required

- Experience supporting field operations, project execution, maintenance, construction, or engineering activities.

- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.

- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, engineering documentation, and work instructions.

- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

- Experience using Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel, PowerPoint, and Project.

- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.

- Ability to work independently while contributing effectively within a team environment.

- Demonstrated ability to collaborate across multiple functions and organizational levels.

- Valid driver's license and ability to travel approximately 50% throughout the United States.

Preferred

- Wind industry experience.

- Experience with major component exchanges, crane operations, turbine commissioning, large corrective projects, or outage execution.

- Knowledge of project management principles and methodologies.

- Familiarity with data analytics, reporting tools, and performance monitoring systems.

- Experience working in utility-scale renewable energy, power generation, heavy industrial, construction, or related environments.

- Experience managing contractors and coordinating cross-functional project teams.
