The Role at a Glance
As the AVP & Actuary of Capital Management, you will provide subject matter expertise and direction on complex projects/initiatives for the Corporate Development team in Radnor, PA; Fort Wayne, IN; Greensboro, NC or Hartford, CT.
Background Details
As the AVP of Capital Management, you will prepare, analyze and report on complex financial information and provide management with actionable insights and recommendations to help the company effectively manage its capital position under multiple frameworks, e.g. GAAP, Statutory, and/or internal capital metrics, and allocate excess capital to the highest and best use. Additionally, you will contribute to the development of the overall capital management strategy and frameworks to drive decisions.
What you'll be doing
•Support the company’s efforts to effectively manage its capital position.
•Research, analyze, recommend, lead, and implement solutions to complex problems impacting the company’s capital position.
•Assist in reviewing forecasts for capital generation and allocation under multiple views over a wide range of scenarios.
•Provide strategic analysis of actual and forecast results and develop clear, concise, and actionable messaging for senior leaders/stakeholders.
•Compare actual results vs. expectations, highlighting key drivers of differences.
•Support review of company hedge programs from a capital management perspective
•Support the company’s efforts to understand the potential impact of and respond to regulatory changes that may affect its capital position.
•Support annual Financial Plan & quarterly earnings process.
•Prepare exhibits and presentations on a variety of topics related to capital management.
•Assist in evaluating the impact of departmental and/or enterprise initiatives on the company’s capital position.
•Conduct analyses to evaluate the effectiveness of capital management approaches and developing recommendations to improve the enterprise’s capital position strategically and continuously.
•Anticipate and provide thought leadership regarding strategies/solutions to complex capital management challenges.
•Identify and monitor capital & liquidity risks and developing mitigation plans as needed.
What we’re looking for
Must-haves:
•10+ Years of experience in Finance, including 8+ years of experience that directly relates to the specific responsibilities of this position.
•4 Year/Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience (4 years of experience in lieu of Bachelor's)
•Ability to effectively communicate via writing/verbal while being able to also present and demonstrate ability to influence at all levels of management through clear, informed, and logical discussions/presentations.
•High level of integrity and attention to detail
•Demonstrated strong relationship management skills with internal clients (e.g. senior management, peers and colleagues); proven ability to develop creative and collaborative approaches
•Significant experience in Excel and Power Point
•Actuarial credentials (FSA) or ASA with progress towards FSA
•Uses strategic skills and critical thinking to analyze complex information and data trends, solves complex, sometimes critical cross-functional problems, applies sound judgment to draw conclusions and act effectively in situations with limited standardization.
•Life Insurance industry experience and/or understanding and knowledge of Statutory and GAAP financials for life insurers, particularly NAIC Risk Based Capital
•Strong working knowledge of market risk profiles, hedging and/or risk management strategies, and relevant US statutory reserve and capital regulations for life and annuity products and embedded guarantees, particularly Variable Annuities and Registered Index Linked Annuities (RILA), e.g. VM-21 and C-3, Phase II with ability assess trade-offs between different alternatives
Nice-to-haves:
•CFA charter holder or progress towards CFA designation
•Proficiency and desire to leverage emerging data science, predictive analytics, and data visualization capabilities.

The pay range for this position is $152,250 - $243,600 with anticipated pay for new hires between the minimum and midpoint of the range and could vary above and below the listed range as permitted by applicable law. Pay is based on non-discriminatory factors including but not limited to work experience, education, location, licensure requirements, proficiency and qualifications required for the role. The base pay is just one component of Lincoln’s total rewards package for employees. In addition, the role may be eligible for the Annual Incentive Program, which is discretionary and based on the performance of the company, business unit and individual. Other rewards may include long-term incentives, sales incentives and Lincoln’s standard benefits package.
