Early Years Educator Level 3 – Halley House School

We are looking for an enthusiastic and hard-working individual to join Halley House School team. As an Early Years Apprentice, you will gain many new skills to help you develop throughout the apprenticeship. During your time as an Early Years Apprentice, you will be supporting children under the age of 5.

Salary:  £16926.00 per year 18-20 year olds & 21 years of age with a salary of £19827.60

Working hours:  Monday to Wednesday 8.30am - 5pm & Thursday, Friday 7.45am - 4pm.

Apprenticeship Details -  19 months expected duration to complete, working towards your Level 3 Early Years Educator Qualification. (All learning is delivered online/ remote).

Training Provider:  LMP Education (rated 8th best UK training provider)

To work as part of the EYFS team, supporting the learning, development, care and wellbeing of pupils at Halley House School. The post holder will work under the guidance of the EYFS Lead, Head of School, SLT and teaching staff. As an Early Years Practitioner Apprentice, the post holder will undertake an appropriate apprenticeship programme and develop the knowledge, skills and behaviours required to achieve the relevant Early Years qualification. They will be supported through training, supervision and practical experience within the EYFS setting.

Overview of Duties:

- To implement agreed work programmes with individual pupils /groups and support teaching staff in the development and education of pupils including the provision of detailed and specialist skills/knowledge in particular areas.

- To assist the teacher in the whole planning, teaching and assessment cycle.

- To supervise and lead small groups of children.

- To implement all policies and practices in line with the ethos of the school.

- Through reflective practice, support a creative inclusive curriculum which values learning through and smaller group working practices

- To support excellent progress for children across all areas of development through effective participation in observation, assessment and planning.

- To support the enriched curriculum through After School club provision

- To help create a stimulating environment which supports learning.

- To support parents in becoming competent and confident co-educators who are actively involved in their child’s development.

- To undertake other activities that the management of the school deem reasonable

- Support children to develop across all areas of learning and development.

- Support learning through play, exploration and adult led activities.

- Develop positive, nurturing relationships with children and respond appropriately to their individual needs.

- Support children's communication and language development through meaningful interactions, modelling language and extending children's vocabulary.

- Support children's personal, social and emotional development and promote independence, confidence and self-esteem.

- Support children's physical development and coordination through appropriate indoor and outdoor activities.

Essential skills:

- Understanding of child development.

- Understanding of the relevance of childcare legislation.

- Understanding of health and safety and welfare issues within a childcare environment.

- Good written and oral skills for report writing, maintaining child records and providing feedback to parents/carers and colleagues.

- An understanding of inclusion, to allow learning to be accessible to all learners including SEN, G&T and EAL.

- Good numeracy/literacy skills. Effective use of IT to support learning.
