About this role

Team and Role Overview:

Join Allianz Partners' India Business Unit (BU) as a Tax Manager, where you will serve as the local tax subject matter expert across all India BU legal entities. This is a strategic, cross-functional role that sits at the intersection of tax compliance, risk management, and business advisory — supporting two service companies, one reinsurance branch in GIFT City, and one GCC in Haryana.

You will work closely with regional tax and finance teams, Allianz Group Taxation, the Allianz Partners Finance Factory, and key senior stakeholders. In a rapidly evolving regulatory and digital landscape, this role also embraces innovation and the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) powered tools to drive efficiency in tax reporting, data analysis, and compliance processes.

Main Responsibilities:

Tax Reporting and Compliance

- Oversee tax reporting for all India BU legal entities, ensuring accuracy and timeliness across multiple entity types
- Lead India tax compliance activities in line with local and Group requirements, including effective tax rate analysis and review of quarterly IFRS tax reporting deliveries, in collaboration with the Allianz Partners Finance Factory
- Ensure a consistent approach to tax compliance by liaising with external tax agents responsible for tax computations, returns, and submissions
- Manage and maintain compliance with TDS, GST, VAT, and transfer pricing regulations.

Tax Management

- Perform tax risk management for each India BU entity, working with respective tax contacts and the local Finance Director to ensure alignment
- Identify and assess uncertain tax positions; review and handle tax audits and controversies, including interaction with tax authorities and regulators
- Establish and maintain governance frameworks by implementing existing Allianz Group/Group Taxation governance or developing new frameworks as required.

Tax Planning and Tax Strategy

- Deliver tax services to India BU entities, with a focus on tax planning, international tax advice (tax treaties, withholding tax, global minimum tax), and transfer pricing
- Advise on cross-border transactions, DTAA aspects, withholding tax, and other complex tax matters
- Monitor and analyse national and international tax developments impacting local India BU entities.

Project and Transaction Tax Support

- Provide advisory on tax aspects of new joint venture projects in India
- Support senior management on day-to-day tax queries and ad hoc tax matters.

Who You Are:

We are seeking candidates who are naturally curious and have a keen interest in technology and innovation. As we navigate the future, we value individuals who are eager to stay updated with the latest digital trends and advancements. The ideal candidate should demonstrate a proactive approach to learning and adapting to new tools and technologies, especially Artificial Intelligence (AI) powered tools, showcasing a forward-thinking mindset that aligns with our vision for growth and progress.

Mandatory Requirements

- Minimum 15 years of experience in tax, including 4 years in a senior-level position
- Strong knowledge of local Indian taxation and IFRS taxation, combined with commercial acumen
- Effective team player with a collaborative outlook and ability to work across functions and geographies
- Solution-oriented approach to complex tasks and processes, combined with a hands-on mentality
- Self-motivated, demonstrating initiative and a proactive approach to problem-solving
- Project management skills: ability to plan, organise, motivate, and control resources to achieve specific goals
- Strong communication and presentation skills: ability to express ideas and messages clearly, both written and verbally, and to present compelling narratives to diverse audiences
- Basic knowledge of AI technologies, principles, and their practical use.

Nice to Have

- Change management experience: ability to transition individuals, teams, and the organisation from a current state to a desired future state
- Strategic planning skills: ability to develop, implement, and communicate strategies to address important trends or changes in the business
- Analytical problem-solving: ability to analyse highly complex data from multiple sources in detail, and to identify and resolve issues proactively
- Strong understanding of financials, cost management, and macro-economic trends
