Material Handler - 3rd Shift (10pm-6am)

Material Handlers start at $24.25 per hour + $0.75 per hour shift premium. Additional pay increases at 6 months and 1 year of employment.

Tenneco Litchfield is a manufacturing facility belonging to the Clean Air division of Tenneco. Our primarily focus is producing full exhaust systems and related components for OEM’s (Automotive Plants)and aftermarket parts. Our major customers are General Motors, Ford, Toyota, VW, Nissan, and many aftermarket vehicle replacement parts. We have 3 departments known as Canning, Bending and Final assembly. Canning is the production zone where catalytic converters and different filters are assembled and sealed inside their metal outer shells. Our bending department is responsible for shaping straight metal in complex, curved shapes to fit under the vehicle, and tail pipes. Final assembly at the end of the shop is where, bent pipe, stuffed cans, hangers and flanges are all welded together to make a vehicle ready exhaust system.

POSITION SUMMARY:

Transport all materials and equipment via forklift to each cell operation allowing continuous/expeditious production. Responsible for loading and unloading products for customers and vendors. Utilize the SAP computer system to prepare and ship product and receive product.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Operate forklift, read and follow directions, and respond quickly in a fast-paced production environment.

2. Company interference with carriers for our customers' trucking

3. Perform the above within acceptable quality, quantity, performance and safety standards, including dock safety procedures.

4. Use Epic Scanner for material movement in SAP and receiving materials.

5. Transport materials and baskets to and from work cells as needed to maintain continuous production.

6. Basic computer transactions in SAP.

7. Employees must perform his/her job within acceptable safety, environmental, quality, productivity and performance standards as outlined in plant policies, handbooks and applicable work instructions.

8. CTPA T training is required

9. Overtime as required/requested.

ADDITIONAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Load and unload trucks, dump scrap, move machinery, etc. as requested. Validate inbound/outbound shipments are full.

2. Pull Deliveries, generate paperwork, complete BOL in SAP.

3. Perform safety checks and basic preventative maintenance daily on the forklifts.

4. Always follow safety regulations.

5. Ability to read, write and understand directions, shipping and receiving paperwork and complete lot forms, tags, etc.

CRITICAL SKILLS/QUALIFICA TIONS:

• Must possess a high school diploma or GED

• Must demonstrate mechanical aptitude

• Must be able to acquire forklift license in timely manner which includes a medical certification by a Tenneco provided medical professional have Knowledge of safety regulations

• Ability to read and follow written and verbal directions and charts

• Flexibility and ability to respond quickly to numerous requests and paging announcements

• Alertness and awareness of surrounding activities in all directions

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

• Warehouse, Dock and Plant areas

• Low lighting in certain areas

• Varying temperatures (hot and cold)

• Some exposure to outside weather conditions

• Fast-paced work environment

• High noise levels in some areas

• Some constricted worked areas and pathways

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

• Extensive sitting with some pushing and pulling

• Good head, hand and foot motion

• Ability to lift to 50 lbs.
