Job Position Overview:

As a System Engineer, you will serve as a front-line technical support resource across the Tech at Lilly systems landscape, with primary focus on business systems, infrastructure and system configuration support, and support for QC Lab systems. You will partner with process automation, manufacturing operations, quality, and global Tech at Lilly teams to gather requirements, document business processes, and support the configuration, operation, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement of digital solutions, ensuring systems and processes maintain compliance with GMP requirements and data integrity principles throughout their lifecycle.

Responsibilities:

- Provide day-to-day technical support and troubleshooting for business systems and related plant-floor interfaces, resolving incidents within service levels and escalating complex issues as needed.
- Develop a high-level understanding of the system and technology platform underlying assigned systems and become familiar with configuring and operating at least one aspect or subsystem, growing toward independent operation with decreasing supervision.
- Provide a supporting role in infrastructure activities (e.g., servers, network connectivity, user access, basic system configuration) needed to keep digital solutions running reliably.
- Provide technical support for QC Lab systems and instrument/software interfaces, coordinating with lab and quality personnel to resolve issues and maintain uptime.
- Gather and document business and functional requirements from manufacturing, quality, and IT stakeholders, and translate them into clear technical specifications and system requirements.
- Author, revise, and maintain SOPs, work instructions, and other process documentation, ensuring alignment with GMP requirements and validation practices.
- Support the design, configuration, qualification, and change management of systems, maintaining accurate project and validation documentation.
- Deliver prescribed tasks that help improve or maintain business solutions, applying and growing a basic knowledge of the business processes enabled by the system.
- Analyze systems and processes to identify opportunities for standardization, automation, and continuous improvement across the IT landscape.
- Build and maintain operational dashboards and reports (e.g., PowerBI) to provide visibility into plant, system, and process performance.
- Assist in developing training materials and support end-user adoption of new or updated digital solutions.
- Adhere to security, safety, and compliance protocols, including training requirements, SOPs, and policies related to system management.

Basic Requirements:

- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, IT, Engineering or related field

- 3+ years of relevant work experience in systems engineering, technical support, infrastructure, business/technical analysis, or a related discipline (internship experience considered).
- 2+ years experience working in GMP, pharmaceutical manufacturing.

Additional Skills/Preferences:

- Actively learns and applies systems engineering technology, techniques, and tools; able to independently apply them with increasingly limited coaching and supervision.
- Has, or is developing, a high-level understanding of the system and technology platform underlying at least one aspect or subsystem, with a growing ability to configure and operate it.
- Basic understanding of GMP (Good Manufacturing Practice) requirements and regulated manufacturing environments.
- Familiarity with data integrity principles and practices.
- Previous experience with Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES) or manufacturing automation systems (e.g., DeltaV or similar platforms) is a plus.
- Exposure to data engineering and integration concepts, such as APIs, ETL processes, data historians, or databases.
- Basic understanding of IT infrastructure and system configuration, including servers, networking, and access management.
- Familiarity with QC Lab systems, instrumentation, or laboratory software interfaces is a plus.
- Proficient in translating business requirements into technical documentation and SOPs.
- Prior exposure to Computer System Validation (CSV) processes.
- Proven ability to analyze and resolve process- or system-related issues.
- Experience with Agile methodologies and tools (e.g., Scrum, Jira).
- Proficient in PowerBI or other data visualization and reporting tools.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Demonstrated learning agility and curiosity in a fast-paced technical environment.

- Position Location: Lebanon, Indiana, with potential travel to other U.S. and global Lilly sites as required.

- Shift Information: Role is Monday through Friday and based on-site. Must be flexible in providing support to accommodate other inputs (production schedules, shutdowns, etc.). Occasional extended hours and/or off-hour support may be required (includes the occasional weekend).

Actual compensation will depend on a candidate’s education, experience, skills, and geographic location.  The anticipated wage for this position is
$66,000 - $158,400
