Job Description:
Job Summary
- This role will support Southwest’s Analytics & AI initiatives by transforming business needs into actionable analytical solutions that strengthen data‑driven decision‑making. This role collaborates with business and technology teams to build dashboards, reports, datasets, and insights using tools such as Python, SQL, and Tableau.

Responsibilities
- Partner with Business Stakeholders to understand reporting needs, business processes, and analytical opportunities.
- Support analytical discovery activities and requirements gathering sessions.
- Translate business requirements into analytical solutions, user stories, reporting specifications, and datasets.
- Design, develop, and enhance Tableau dashboards, reports, scorecards, and analytical products.
- Develop SQL-based analytical solutions and datasets that provide actionable business insights.
- Utilize Python to perform data analysis, automate analytical processes, and support reporting solutions.
- Analyze datasets to identify trends, opportunities, and operational insights.
- Define and document business metrics, KPIs, calculations, and reporting standards.
- Partner with Product Owners, Data Engineers, and AI Engineers to deliver analytical capabilities aligned with business objectives.
- Collaborate with Data Engineers to ensure analytical requirements are reflected in data models and curated datasets.
- Leverage Alteryx workflows where appropriate to support reporting and business automation.
- Support KPI implementation, reporting enhancements, and business intelligence initiatives.
- Perform data validation, reconciliation, and quality assurance activities.
- Create presentations and reports that communicate analytical findings to business and technology stakeholders.
- Participate in Agile ceremonies and delivery activities.
- Create and maintain business documentation, reporting inventories, analytical specifications, and data dictionaries.
- May perform other job duties as directed by Employee's Leaders
- Gather, document and analyze business requirements.
- Develop reports, dashboards and KPI scorecards using Tableau, SQL and Alteryx.
- Perform data validation, reconciliation and quality assurance.
- Partner with stakeholders to identify opportunities for process improvement.
- Support analytics automation through Python and BI tools.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Strong knowledge of SQL, relational databases, data analysis techniques, and analytical data structures.
- Strong knowledge of Tableau dashboard development and data visualization best practices.
- Intermediate knowledge of Alteryx workflows, data preparation, and business process automation.
- Intermediate knowledge of Python for data analysis, automation, and analytical solution development.
- Knowledge of self-service analytics and business intelligence concepts.
- Knowledge of AI-enabled analytics and GenBI concepts.
- Skilled in stakeholder engagement, requirements gathering, facilitation, and communication.
- Skilled in data validation, reconciliation, and quality assurance practices.
- Skilled in Agile methodologies and iterative delivery practices.
- Ability to communicate analytical findings to technical and non-technical audiences.
- Ability to analyze business processes and identify opportunities for improvement.
- Ability to transform business requirements into analytical solutions and actionable insights.

Education

- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, Business Analytics, Data Science, or related field and/or equivalent formal training.

Experience

- Intermediate level experience, fully functioning broad knowledge in: Business analytics, reporting, business intelligence, and data analysis.
- Utilizing one or more business intelligence, analytics, or data visualization platforms (e.g., SQL, Tableau, or similar technologies).
- Utilizing Python for data analysis, and analytical solution development.
- Developing dashboards, reports, and analytical solutions.
- Working directly with business stakeholders to gather requirements and deliver analytical insights.
- Supporting KPI development, reporting solutions, and business intelligence initiatives.
- Performing data validation, reconciliation, and analytical quality assurance activities.
- Communicating analytical findings to business and technology stakeholders.
- Working in Agile delivery environments.
- 3–5+ years of relevant work-related experience.

Preferred Qualifications

- Finance domain exposure, analytics project experience, GenAI/GenBI awareness, and exposure to modern cloud analytics platforms.

- Must meet confidentiality expectations as to confidential, proprietary and sensitive Company information
- Ability to work extended hours as needed
