Technical Program Manager

Job Title: Technical Program Manager - Manufacturing Operations Job Description We are seeking a Technical Program Manager to bring structure, visibility, and clarity to a fast-paced manufacturing engineering organization. In this role, you will be responsible for keeping the team on track for both short-term and long-term commitments. This is a hands-on, floor-present role where you will actively engage with team members to unblock problems and ensure seamless operations. You will partner with manufacturing leadership to formalize operational systems, migrate spreadsheet-based tracking into scalable tools, draft technical documentation, and drive program cadence. Responsibilities

- Migrate existing Excel-based tracking systems into Jira by designing project structures, workflows, issue types, and dashboards tailored to the engineering team's workflow.
- Connect program data across various tools to create a single-source-of-truth system for program tracking, material readiness, build status, and risk management.
- Create and maintain dashboards that provide real-time visibility into program status, designed for easy consumption by engineering managers and senior leadership.
- Draft and maintain technical documentation such as SOPs, build procedures, process documents, lessons-learned reports, and program status updates.
- Be physically present on the production floor to identify and resolve blockers firsthand.
- Facilitate key reviews, capture decisions and action items, and drive follow-through to ensure meetings produce tangible outcomes.
- Track and drive cross-functional action items to closure, providing visibility into open and at-risk items across engineering, supply chain, manufacturing, and quality.
- Identify opportunities to automate or streamline recurring reporting, status collection, and data aggregation.

Essential Skills

- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Technical Communication, Business, or equivalent discipline.
- 3+ years of experience in a technical program management or project coordination role within a hardware, manufacturing, or engineering environment.
- Proficiency in Jira, including project configuration, workflow design, custom fields, and dashboards.
- Experience in migrating unstructured or spreadsheet-based tracking into structured project management tools.
- Strong technical writing and drafting skills, capable of producing clear, concise documentation for both technical and executive audiences.
- Proficiency in Excel/Google Sheets for data analysis, pivot tables, and reporting.
- Basic proficiency with databases, comfortable navigating, querying, and building simple reports and views.
- Comfortable working in a manufacturing environment, willing to be on the floor daily to engage directly with operators and technicians.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

- Experience in a hardware NPI or manufacturing environment with familiarity in build schedules, BOM tracking, and engineering change processes.
- Familiarity with dashboard/visualization tools such as QuickSight, Tableau, or Power BI.
- Experience supporting cross-functional programs with engineering, supply chain, quality, and manufacturing stakeholders.
- Startup or launch experience preferred, with a comfort in building structure from scratch.

Work Environment This role is situated in a dynamic and high-urgency manufacturing startup environment. The team is actively launching a new product, and the work is fast-paced with systems and processes still being formalized. The ideal candidate should expect ambiguity and be comfortable working in a setting that requires physical presence on the production floor to build trust and facilitate connections.

This is a Contract position based out of Wilmington, MA.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $60.00 - $70.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
