Senior Engineer- HW PCBA ECAD

Primary Purpose of the Role

He / She contributes to the hardware PCBA ECAD development and IVVQ (integration, verification, validation & qualification) activities required to develop a test bench solution and/or HW building blocks associated with it. Performs hardware PCBA ECAD development activities and generates associated manufacturing definition files… generating Schematic and PCBA Gerber file to meet the test bench requirements as well as governing regulatory standards (CE, UL, IPC-610 etc.). Identifies the key BOM and compliance to ROHS, WEEE & REACH standard. Contributes to co-engineering activities with the hardware, mechanical, IVVQ and Systems Engineering team. Performs development activity as per the CHORUS 2.0 process.

Key Responsibilities and Tasks

- Develop ECAD activity in line with project requirements.
- Review of PCBA design input requirements / data and ensure timely collaboration with cross-functional teams for resolution as required to progress the ECAD design per schedule.
- Define PCB Stack-up, Layer set-up and PCB Layout execution.
- Execute the Digital, analog and RF based design boards as per Thales Design specification.
- Implement DFM, DFA, DFT principles and design for thermal, mechanical, EMC constraints.
- Perform ECAD deliverables review with necessary stakeholders and ensure on time review closure.
- Perform Layout updates in line with electrical design updates and or requirements.
- Provide industrialization support for the board design: Implementation of supplier feedback as required.
- Adhere to the quality management practices deployed for the project.
- Ensuring error-free release of Gerber, BOM and Fabrication/Assembly drawings as per Thales Guidelines.
- Participates in the integration activities and verification phases of PCBA solution in test benches/ building blocks.

Skills Required

Essential

- Understanding of PCB / CCA design input requirements
- Mixed signal / analog / digital and Radio Frequency board design.
- PCB Layout generation.
- Hands on experience in the following tools
- Cadence Allegro. (Concept HDL Entry and Allegro PCB layout)
- OrCAD Capture CIS
- DFx concepts and its implementation.
- IPC and industry standards associated with printed circuit board (PCB) and circuit card assembly (CCA) design.
- Design for thermal, mechanical, EMC constraints of PCB / CCA
- Design for manufacturing, assembly and testing (DFM , DFA , DFT) of PCB / CCA
- Signal Integrity concepts and its implementation.
- Materials, technologies and processes for PCB & CCA manufacturing.
- PCB / CCA Design Data Package for fabrication and assembly (Data files, Bill of Material or Item List, Item, Documents, components, COTS, Find Number, Material & Processes Item, etc.)
- Working with multi-disciplinary team (Electronics design, Mechanical design and System engineering teams).
- Experienced in DESIGN to PRODUCTION project lifecycle and associated PCB / CCA processes.
- ECAD activity estimation and schedule generation .

COTS Test & Measurement equipment

Knowledge and ability to select instruments to meet test needs

HW IVVQ Testing

- Hands-on usage of instruments and test set-ups

- Aware of test standards associated with CE marking, DO 160

Years of experience

5 to 10 years of Industry experience

Educational Qualification : Graduate/ master's degree in engineering in Electronics, Electrical, Instrumentation or equivalent
