Summary

HII Mission Technologies is hiring a Director of Manufacturing Systems, reporting to the Vice President of Industrial & Manufacturing Engineering, to lead the scale-up of manufacturing across internal and external production sites, accountable for capacity, delivery, and cost.

This position is remote, with a preference for candidates located on the East Coast or in the Midwest.

What you will do

- Deliver manufacturing ramp-ups and margin expansion for strategic products by designing and standardizing production requirements, facility layouts, and material flows across Mission Technologies production sites

- Own the division's manufacturing footprint strategy, including make-vs-buy decisions, new facility investments, and insourcing business cases, and lead integration of new operations

- Develop and maintain technical production standards for HII MT manufacturing, including standards for manufacturing requirements, product introduction and process design changes, and capacity models

- Collaborate with business groups to characterize capacity, standardize requirements, assess bottlenecks, balance production lines, and streamline material flows to efficiently achieve production targets

- Collaborate with business groups, Process Excellence leaders, and other leaders across Mission Technologies to achieve production targets while establishing and leading structured continuous improvement programs

- Develop business cases and lead deployment of automation, digital, and AI technologies

- Build, lead, and develop a team to perform time and motion studies, map value streams, model production capacity, identify waste and efficiency opportunities, and implement front-line and back-office process improvements

- Drive change management by blending technical knowledge, data analysis, and interpersonal skills to build trust, conviction, and commitment from the front line to senior leadership

What you must have

- 10 years relevant progressive experience with Bachelors in related field; 8 years relevant progressive experience with Masters in related field; or High School Diploma or equivalent and 14 years relevant progressive experience.

- Track record of delivering operational and financial impact in Aerospace & Defense or similar complex manufacturing environments

- Experience leading capacity modeling and simulation, value stream mapping, time-and-motion studies, and standard work

- Experience with business case development for capital, make-vs-buy, or footprint decisions

- Familiarity with lean, six sigma, and operational leadership development programs

- Exceptional communication skills and the ability to build trust quickly with a wide range of stakeholders, including front-line craftspeople and senior executives

- Comfort with creating structure from ambiguity and moving quickly with imperfect data
