The Opportunity:
The Office of the President at Washington State University is seeking a dynamic and organized Events Coordinator to support university-wide events, programs, ceremonies, and special initiatives. In this role, you will help advance the university’s mission by coordinating events that engage students, faculty, staff, alumni, community partners, and other key stakeholders. You will work closely with university leadership and campus partners to create meaningful experiences that showcase the impact of Washington State University.
As the Events Coordinator , you will coordinate the planning and execution of a variety of events by managing logistics, schedules, communications, vendor relationships, registrations, and operational requirements. You will provide on-site event support, ensure successful event delivery, and troubleshoot issues as they arise. Responsibilities also include processing event-related purchases and payments, tracking expenditures, maintaining event records and planning documents, updating event websites, and supporting communications with event participants and stakeholders. This position plays an essential role in ensuring events are delivered professionally, efficiently, and in compliance with university policies and procedures.
Additional Information:
This is a full-time (100% FTE) , permanent position. This position is overtime eligible.
Monthly Salary:
Events Coordinator 1 : $3,195 - $4,201 | Range 34 (Steps A-M)
Events Coordinator 2 : $3,485 - $4,633 | Range 38 (Steps A-M)
Events Coordinator 3 : $3,738 - $4,980 | Range 41 (Steps A-M)
Events Coordinator 4 : $4,300 - $5,779 | Range 47 (Steps A-M)
Successful candidates are typically hired at the beginning of the salary range and receive scheduled salary increment increases in accordance with WAC 357-28 .
In accordance with RCW 49.58.110 , the above salary reflects the full salary range for this position. Individual placement within the range is based on the candidate’s current experience, education, skills, and abilities related to the position.

Required Qualifications:
Events Coordinator 1:
- High school graduation and two (2) years of work experience involving public contact such as secretarial, sales promotion, setting up conferences, public information, or in the hospitality industry OR Equivalent education/experience.
Events Coordinator 2:
- High school graduation or equivalent and three (3) years of work experience involving public contact such as secretarial, sales promotion, setting up conferences, public information, or in the hospitality industry; OR equivalent education/experience.
Events Coordinator 3:
- High school graduation and four (4) years of progressively responsible work experience involving public contact such as secretarial, sales promotion, setting up conferences, public information, or in the hospitality industry OR Equivalent education/experience.
Events Coordinator 4:
- Four (4) years of college education including course work in public administration, business administration, hotel management, public relations, or park/resource management AND four (4) years of related work experience or certification as a Certified Meeting Professional (CMP) OR Equivalent education/experience.
Required Qualifications for all positions:
- Demonstrated effective communication skills.
- Experience organizing, planning, executing and evaluating special events.
- Experience working in an environment requiring confidentiality.
- Must have, or be able to obtain by time of hire, a valid driver’s license and meet requirements in accordance with SPPM 7.10 (https://policies.wsu.edu/prf/index/manuals/safety-policies-procedures-manual/sppm-7-10/#four_3) and departmental driving standards.
- Experience using Microsoft Office Suite applications including Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Excel programs.
- Experience managing multiple projects.
Preferred Qualifications for all postions:
- Experience working in higher education.
- Familiarity with Washington State University operations, policies, and procedures.
- Knowledge of or experience with Workday.
- Evidence of creative, conceptual thinking and the ability to take the conceptual and make it a reality.
