Baylor Scott & White Medical Center – Austin is entering an exciting period of growth as we expand key service lines to better serve the Greater Austin community. This includes the development of a new cardiac catheterization (cath) lab, expanded imaging services, and a new breast imaging and mammography center, along with enhancements across the campus.

To support this growth, we are hiring ahead of phased openings to build and prepare our teams in advance. Start dates will vary by role and specialty as departments come online throughout 2026. Mammography Technologist II – Breast Imaging

Baylor Scott & White Health is seeking an experienced Mammography Technologist II to join the expanding Breast Imaging and Mammography team at BSW Austin Oak Hill Medical Center .

This full-time Mammography Tech opportunity offers a Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–5:00 PM schedule and the opportunity to help support the development and launch of expanded breast imaging services in the Greater Austin area.

We're looking for an experienced ARRT-M certified Mammography Technologist with strong breast imaging skills, including experience with advanced mammography procedures such as stereotactic biopsies, needle localizations and ultrasound-guided biopsies .

Job Summary

The Mammography Technologist II , under the supervision of a Radiologist, performs advanced mammography and breast imaging procedures for ambulatory and hospital patients.

The Mammography Technologist provides high-quality diagnostic imaging services as ordered by physicians and other licensed providers to assist with the detection and diagnosis of breast disease and other conditions while following established imaging protocols, safety standards and regulatory requirements.

Essential Functions of the Role

- Perform high-quality mammography and advanced breast imaging procedures according to established exam protocols, quality standards and department procedures.
- Perform advanced breast imaging procedures that may include stereotactic biopsies, needle localizations and ultrasound-guided biopsies .
- Prepare and position patients appropriately for mammography and breast imaging examinations, including proper equipment positioning, immobilization and exposure settings.
- Communicate clearly and compassionately with patients and families, explaining breast imaging procedures and helping patients feel comfortable throughout their examination.
- Utilize AIDET principles to identify patient needs, verify the correct patient and examination, and provide an exceptional patient experience.
- Follow established radiation safety, infection prevention, medication and patient safety protocols .
- Utilize proper sterile technique and maintain hand hygiene when assisting with invasive breast imaging procedures.
- Maintain mammography equipment and work areas according to established quality and cleanliness standards.
- Collaborate with engineers and physicists to support optimal imaging equipment performance and report equipment concerns appropriately.
- Obtain, verify and maintain required documentation, including imaging orders, patient history, pregnancy status, consent forms and other required clinical information.
- Maintain accurate breast imaging and mammography records in appropriate systems according to department policies and regulatory standards.
- Assist with supply inventory and department operations as needed.

- Experience with advanced procedures including stereotactic breast biopsies, needle localization and ultrasound-guided biopsies .
- Strong knowledge of breast anatomy, mammographic positioning, radiation safety and breast imaging protocols.
- Ability to explain mammography and breast imaging procedures clearly while helping patients feel comfortable and supported.
- Strong communication, critical-thinking and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with Radiologists, physicians, nurses and other members of the breast imaging team.
- Ability to remain calm, professional and patient-focused in a busy clinical environment.
- Commitment to providing timely, accurate and high-quality breast imaging services.
- Ability to serve as a preceptor and provide quality training to new team members and support new services and initiatives.

Qualifications

Education

- Graduate of an Accredited Radiologic Technology Program

Experience

- 2 years of experience required

Certification / Licensure

- ARRT-R – Registered Technologist in Radiography
- ARRT-M – Registered Technologist in Mammography
- Texas Medical Board MRT – Medical Radiologic Technologist license
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or BLS obtained within 30 days of hire or transfer
