Information Security and Risk develops, implements, and enforces security controls to protect the organization's technology assets from intentional or inadvertent modification, disclosure or destruction. This job family develops system back-up and disaster recovery plans. Information Technology also conducts incident response, threat management, vulnerability scanning, virus management and intrusion detection and completes risk assessments.

We are currently seeking a Manager, Security Engineering & Platforms to lead multiple cybersecurity engineering functions responsible for foundational security platforms and services supporting the enterprise.

Summary

The Manager, Security Engineering & Platforms is responsible for leading teams that manage critical cybersecurity technologies, infrastructure, and engineering capabilities supporting the organization's detection, response, automation, and cyber defense programs.

This role provides both people leadership and technical leadership across Security Information and Event Management (SIEM), Security Orchestration, Automation and Response (SOAR), and Cyber Defense engineering functions. The individual will be responsible for developing team members, driving engineering strategy, optimizing security platforms, and ensuring reliable operation of technologies that support enterprise cybersecurity operations.

The ideal candidate is a strong technical leader with experience managing security platforms, cloud infrastructure, automation initiatives, and engineering teams. This individual should be passionate about developing people, solving complex technical challenges, and driving continuous improvement.

Responsibilities

- Lead and develop multiple Security Engineering & Platform teams, including supervisors, engineers, and technical specialists.
- Establish strategic direction and roadmaps for cybersecurity platforms and engineering capabilities.
- Collaborate with internal customers, technology teams, cybersecurity teams, and business stakeholders.
- Mentor team members and support their professional and technical development.
- Oversee administration, support, and optimization of enterprise security monitoring, automation, and cyber defense platforms.
- Manage infrastructure supporting cybersecurity technologies, including cloud-hosted and on-premises environments.
- Drive automation initiatives through orchestration platforms, scripting, APIs, and engineering best practices.
- Ensure platforms are monitored, maintained, and continuously improved to maximize security effectiveness and operational efficiency.
- Lead platform lifecycle activities, including upgrades, migrations, integrations, and modernization efforts.
- Support incident response and security operations teams through reliable platform engineering and service delivery.
- Execute security engineering projects and initiatives that improve organizational security capabilities.
- Manage vendor relationships, contracts, and technology evaluations.
- Participate in proof-of-concept testing, technology assessments, and strategic platform selection activities.
- Partner with Security Architecture teams to transition new technologies into operational support models.
- Develop and maintain operational processes, standards, and documentation supporting security engineering functions.
- Manage team workload, priorities, staffing, budgeting, and resource allocation.

Qualifications

- Ability to lead and motivate technical teams while balancing operational, strategic, and organizational priorities preferred.
- Experience managing cybersecurity platforms, infrastructure, or engineering functions preferred.
- Experience leading technical teams in cybersecurity, information technology, or related disciplines preferred.
- Experience supporting enterprise security technologies and the infrastructure that enables them preferred.
- Experience developing operational processes and support models for complex technical environments preferred.
- Experience with cloud infrastructure and modern enterprise technology environments preferred.
- Strong understanding of cybersecurity principles, security operations, and defensive security technologies preferred.
- Experience collaborating across multiple technical and business teams preferred.
- Strong communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills preferred.
- Experience managing Security Engineering, Platform Engineering, Security Operations, or Cyber Defense teams preferred.
- Experience leading leaders, including supervisors, team leads, or senior technical contributors preferred.
- Experience with security monitoring, security automation, incident response technologies, or cyber defense platforms preferred.
- Experience with scripting, automation, and API-based integrations preferred.
- Experience with Linux operating systems and supporting infrastructure preferred.
- Experience with networking concepts and enterprise network technologies preferred.
- Experience working in cloud environments preferred.
- Familiarity with infrastructure automation and Infrastructure as Code practices preferred.
- Familiarity with cybersecurity frameworks and industry best practices preferred.
- Experience managing projects, budgets, vendor relationships, and technology roadmaps preferred.
- Experience working in large enterprise environments preferred.

Anticipated salary range:  $125,300 - $196,790
