The Role

As Analyst, Strategy, Risk & Operations (SRO), you will support Capital Markets and Factor Investing’s (CMF) operational-readiness agenda, working at the intersection of investment operations, data, technology and business processes.

In this 12-month contract role, you will help advance operational capabilities from implementation through adoption and into a scalable target-state operating model. You will contribute to process and data improvements, operational-readiness reporting, issue resolution, fund onboarding and controls that support CMF’s evolving investment platform.

The Team

Capital Markets and Factor Investing (CMF) invests globally across public equities, fixed income, currencies, commodities and derivatives, and manages relationships with external investment managers and public-market co-investments. Strategy, Risk & Operations (SRO) oversees CMF’s portfolio strategy, operational and business strategy, portfolio construction and risk, partnering across CMF and the enterprise to enable scalable investment programs.

Accountabilities

- Support CMF operational-readiness initiatives from implementation through adoption, translating target-state requirements into practical process, data and control enhancements and supporting transition to sustainable business-as-usual ownership.
- Contribute to operational-readiness measurement and reporting, including metrics, dashboards and heatmaps that assess readiness, scalability and resilience.
- Investigate operational and data issues across systems and teams, identify root causes and help implement sustainable solutions through technology, data, process or control improvements.
- Support External Portfolio Management fund onboarding and implementation, including fund setup, review of investment and closing documents, operational data and workflows, and standardized procedures and controls.
- Partner with External Portfolio Management, Investment Engineering & Analytics, Investment Operations and Technology teams to monitor and improve investment data quality and support adoption of key CMF platforms.
- Support return validation, exception management and sign-off processes to strengthen the reliability of portfolio, performance and operational reporting.

Qualifications

- Undergraduate or graduate degree in Finance, Economics, Business, Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, Data Analytics or a related discipline.
- Relevant experience in investment management, business analysis, investment operations or data analytics is preferred; the source job description does not specify a minimum number of years.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving and critical-thinking skills, with the ability to navigate ambiguity and identify practical, sustainable solutions.
- Understanding of public capital markets; familiarity with hedge funds, external managers or alternative investments is an asset.
- Strong proficiency in Excel and Microsoft Office; experience with SQL, data visualization or analytical tools, or Python is an asset.
- Ability to work effectively across investment, operations, technology and data teams, translating business requirements into clear process, data or system needs and communicating effectively with stakeholders.
- Strong attention to detail, intellectual curiosity and an ownership mindset, with an interest in data lineage, controls and scalable process improvement; demonstrates CPP Investments’ Guiding Principles of Integrity, Partnership and High Performance.
