About this role
JOB SUMMARY : Responsible for courteously and professionally serving resident and guest meals in the dining rooms. This also includes preparation and set up of the dining room and other side responsibilities, such as catering functions. The server is a key person in customer relations for Covenant Woods due to the direct contact with the residents.
ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Embrace and model Covenant Woods business standards, Code of Conduct, and focus on the Promise in all aspects of delivery of service.
• Prepare dining room tables and dining room area for meals.
• Take resident orders accurately and serve meals in a timely manner.
• Communicate effectively with kitchen staff regarding resident orders and needs on the buffet.
• Meets individual resident needs and responds to special requests during service times.
• Practice accurate use of resident diet card system.
• Practice proper service procedures: Pre-bussing, clearing tables, cleaning tables and re-setting tables during and after meals.
• Preparation of salads and desserts as needed.
• Keep work areas organized. Clean and sanitize work areas and equipment.
• Use equipment correctly and safely. Report operational problems immediately.
• Maintain a clean and well-groomed appearance.
• Take and record all required temperatures.
• Promote friendly, productive relationships with residents and co-workers. Perform other related duties as assigned. Participate in creating a high energy, positive, teamwork environment.
Qualifications
JOB SPECIFICATIONS:
• Ability to communicate well with residents and co-workers.
• Possess a clear understanding of therapeutic diets.
• Ability to work with minimal supervision and follow directions.
• Ability to speak, read, and writes English clearly.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
• Physical condition to tolerate standing for long periods: bending, reaching, carrying, and lifting up to 25 lbs. and pushing up to 200 lbs.
• Regularly necessary to talk, hear, taste and smell. Specific vision requirements include distance vision, color vision, and the ability to adjust focus.
• Frequent exposure to hot & cold work areas, wet & humid conditions, moving mechanical parts, fumes, and mildly abrasive chemicals.
