Position Specific Description

This position is an integral part of our Digital Workplace team supporting NextEra Energy and its subsidiaries, Florida Power & Light (FPL) and NextEra Energy Resources (NEER). The team designs, implements, automates, and supports enterprise workplace technologies including virtual desktop, cloud, and employee computing services.

This position will design, develop, and maintain internal software solutions, automation, integrations, and data platforms that improve the delivery, reliability, and operational efficiency of Digital Workplace services. The role combines software development with DevOps, cloud engineering, data engineering, and infrastructure automation to solve complex technology and operational challenges.

The position requires strong software development experience with Python, web APIs, SQL and relational databases, along with experience using modern development practices including Git, CI/CD, Infrastructure as Code, and automated deployments. The ideal candidate will be comfortable developing software that interacts with cloud and enterprise infrastructure platforms and working across multiple technologies to deliver scalable automation solutions.

Experience with cloud platforms and enterprise technologies such as Google Cloud Platform (GCP), Amazon Web Services (AWS), Citrix DaaS, ServiceNow, Terraform, Ansible, and virtual desktop infrastructure is highly desirable.

Job Overview
This role is responsible for maintaining, designing, developing, implementing, and supporting software and automation solutions for enterprise Digital Workplace technologies.

Employees in this role maintain and develop internal applications, integrations, data pipelines, and automation that connect enterprise platforms, improve operational visibility, reduce manual processes, and enable technology modernization. The position works closely with Digital Workplace engineering teams, Cloud, Cybersecurity, ServiceNow, infrastructure teams, and other technology organizations to deliver secure, reliable, scalable, and maintainable solutions.

Employees in this role apply software engineering and DevOps practices to infrastructure and operational challenges and participate in the ongoing modernization of enterprise workplace services.

Job Duties & Responsibilities

- Design, develop, test, deploy, and maintain software applications and automation supporting Digital Workplace technologies and services.

- Develop and maintain Python-based applications, services, and automation for infrastructure management, monitoring, provisioning, migrations, reporting, and operational workflows.

- Design and maintain integrations with enterprise platforms using REST APIs, SDKs, databases, and other integration technologies.

- Develop and maintain data pipelines and relational database solutions supporting operational applications, reporting, monitoring, and automation.

- Develop automation and integrations supporting cloud and virtual desktop platforms including Citrix DaaS, AWS WorkSpaces, Omnissa Horizon enterprise VDI technologies.

- Develop and maintain Infrastructure as Code and configuration automation using technologies such as Terraform, Ansible, and Packer.

- Utilize Git, GitHub, CI/CD, and automated deployment processes to support reliable and maintainable software delivery.

- Develop and support integrations with enterprise platforms such as ServiceNow, Active Directory, identity services, Google Cloud Platform, and AWS.

- Build monitoring, logging, validation, error handling, testing, and audit capabilities into production applications and automation.

- Troubleshoot complex issues involving applications, APIs, databases, cloud services, infrastructure, identity, and enterprise integrations.

- Partner with engineering and operations teams to identify manual or repetitive processes and develop scalable automation solutions.

- Participate in technology migrations and modernization initiatives involving cloud, virtual desktop, and Digital Workplace platforms.

- Establish and promote software development, DevOps, source control, testing, deployment, and documentation best practices.

- Evaluate emerging technologies, including artificial intelligence and automation capabilities, that can improve Digital Workplace operations and employee experience.

- Maintain technical documentation and provide knowledge transfer to engineering and operations teams.

- Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

Preferred Qualifications

- Experience – 5+ years of relevant experience in software development, DevOps engineering, automation engineering, cloud engineering, or a related technology discipline.

- Strong software development and scripting experience using Python.

- Experience developing and consuming REST APIs and integrating enterprise applications or technology platforms.

- Experience with SQL and relational database technologies.

- Experience with Git-based source control and modern software development practices.

- Experience with CI/CD, automated deployment processes, or Infrastructure as Code.

- Experience developing automation for cloud, infrastructure, or enterprise technology environments.

- Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills across integrated technology platforms.

- Education – Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, Engineering, or other advanced science or engineering field.

- Experience with PostgreSQL and Linux-based application services.

- Experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP) and/or Amazon Web Services (AWS).

- Experience with Terraform, Ansible, Packer, GitHub Actions, or similar DevOps and automation technologies.

- Experience with Citrix DaaS, AWS WorkSpaces, Omnissa Horizon, or other enterprise virtual desktop technologies.

- Experience with ServiceNow development, service catalog integrations, or ITSM automation.

- Experience with Active Directory, Single Sign-On, and enterprise identity technologies.

- Experience developing data pipelines, operational data platforms, monitoring, or reporting solutions.

- Experience applying artificial intelligence or generative AI technologies to IT operations, automation, or enterprise data.

- Experience with Agile methodologies and Kanban systems.
