Reports To: Head, Marketing Transformation & Operations

Role Overview:

GEICO is building the future of marketing — and this role is where that future gets built. The Senior Director, Marketing Operations & Transformation owns the engine room that will power GEICO's next chapter, pulling three core levers that determine how fast and how well the marketing organization can move: Financials, Operations, and Innovation. This is a rare mandate — one leader, one team, three levers, all pointed at the same outcome: a marketing organization that spends smarter, executes cleaner, and out-innovates the category.

This is a builder's role. The Senior Director leads a team of three Directors — Capital Management, Marketing Operations, and Innovation & System Design — and their broader teams, turning strategy into disciplined execution across budget, process, agencies, tooling, and AI-enabled ways of working. The right person for this role loves structure and process design, sees cross-functional relationships as the real lever of influence, and is energized — not intimidated — by building something from the ground up. Sitting at the intersection of finance discipline, operational rigor, and technical possibility, this leader ensures GEICO's marketing organization runs at its best today while building the system that lets it run even better tomorrow.

What You'll Own: The Three Levers

Lever 1: Financials

- Lead the Director, Capital Management and the discipline behind how the marketing budget is planned, deployed, and tracked.
- Own budget accuracy, providing deeper support for creative and media investment decisions.
- Oversee budget deployment, invoice and MA oversight, and accruals, ensuring GEICO's marketing dollars are governed with rigor and speed.
- Partner with Finance to keep spend transparent, defensible, and aligned to enterprise priorities.

Lever 2: Operations

- Lead the Director, Marketing Operations and the team responsible for how work actually flows through the department.
- Own capability build and management, ensuring the org has the skills and structure to execute at a high bar.
- Oversee agency management and process design, removing friction between internal teams and external partners.
- Lead cross-functional partner management — legal, supply, risk, and compliance — so marketing moves fast without moving recklessly.

Lever 3: Innovation

- Lead the Director, Innovation & System Design in defining and advancing GEICO's marketing operating system — clarifying how marketing works end-to-end to enable speed, quality, and measurable impact.
- Champion agentic system design and AI transformation, shifting the organization from isolated tool usage to scaled, capability-driven use of AI.
- Set the tooling approach and the broader technology and product relationship, grounded in business outcomes rather than individual platforms.
- Act as a translator of possibility — helping marketing leaders understand what technology, workflows, and AI can unlock, and how to make it real in practice.

Team & Organizational Leadership:

- Build, lead, and develop a team of three Directors and their organizations, setting a unified operating rhythm across budget, execution, and transformation.
- Represent Marketing Operations & Transformation in executive forums, translating complex trade-offs across spend, process, and technology into clear recommendations.
- Establish shared standards and cadences so Capital Management, Marketing Operations, and Innovation & System Design function as one coherent system rather than three separate disciplines.
- Own the operating system as a product — one that brings measurable value back to the business through continued investment and evolution.

What Success Looks Like:

- A marketing organization that runs on disciplined, transparent budget management — accurate, well-governed, and responsive to the business.
- A clearly defined and understood marketing operating system that teams and agencies can easily navigate and use.
- Increased operational clarity — teams understand how work gets done, where decisions happen, and how tools and money connect.
- Measurable improvements in efficiency (speed, reduced friction) and effectiveness (quality, impact of output).
- Three high-performing Directors and teams operating as one integrated function, not three silos.
- Marketing leaders who can clearly articulate how spend, operations, and technology together drive better business outcomes.

Who You Are:

Core Traits

- Loves structure and process design — energized, not drained, by building the systems that let others move faster.
- Builds cross-functional relationships as a craft, not a checkbox — sees influence across finance, legal, tech, and agencies as the real lever of impact.
- A system-level thinker with strong operational and financial discipline.
- Comfortable operating in ambiguity and building what doesn't yet exist.
- Fluent in business strategy, budget management, and technical possibility alike.
- A proven people leader who can develop directors into stronger leaders.

Experience & Skills:

- 12–15+ years in marketing operations, transformation, budget/financial management, creative technology, consulting, or platform strategy roles, with direct experience managing managers.
- Proven experience owning a marketing budget or capital allocation process, including invoice, accrual, and vendor oversight.
- Proven experience designing and scaling complex systems across tools, process, and partners.
- Strong understanding of modern MarTech, creative tools, automation, and AI-enabled platforms.
- Ability to influence across finance, legal, risk, and compliance stakeholders, not just marketing.
- Clear communicator who can translate between executives, technologists, creatives, financial partners, and vendors.

Why This Role Matters:

This is where GEICO's marketing future gets built — not someday, but now. Competitive advantage won't be won by any single campaign or platform; it will be won by how intelligently the organization pulls its three core levers: Financials, Operations, and Innovation. This role gives one leader the mandate to build the operating engine that makes GEICO's marketing faster, sharper, and ready for what's next — and to build the team, the processes, and the relationships that make it last
