Overview

We are seeking a Senior Waste Management Specialist Energy, to join our team in our Oak Ridge, TN office.

Your role

- Stops work without fear of reprisal for unsafe conditions potentially affecting personnel safety or environmental risk.
- Complies with DOT regulations, EPA regulations and DOE Orders as applicable.
- Reviews existing procedures and prepares revisions and checklist updates to incorporate regulatory requirements and changes as well as customer driven revisions.
- Makes waste packaging determinations.
- Performs marking, labeling, and placarding determinations.
- Calculates radionuclide and other hazardous material inventories for packages and conveyance.
- Provides guidance and oversight for loading, handling, segregation, and securement of loads.
- Prepares shipping papers/records and waste manifests in accordance with state and federal regulations.
- Interfaces with onsite and offsite treatment, storage and disposal units for acceptance of various waste streams for treatment and/or disposal including development of waste profiles and related documentation.
- Teams and interfaces with treatment, storage, disposal, generators and/or other customers and regulators to resolve specific waste management related concerns.
- Responsible for total asset visibility of all waste and shipment containers and maintains drum inventory database.
- Anticipates requirements and orders required items for waste management.
- Supports Operations with all waste management, RCRA, and thorium product shipment activities.
- Works under general supervision.
- Supports the execution of Integrated Safety Management System (ISMS) guiding principles and core functions and the Isotek Safety Culture.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

About you

- Bachelor of Engineering or related Science degree required or equivalent experience.
- Q Clearance or the ability to obtain a Q Clearance.
- Requires ten (10) years’ experience conducting onsite waste shipping manifests and waste characterization.
- Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office.
- Strong communication, verbal and written skills.
- Detailed knowledge of state and federal transportation and environmental regulations (WAC, FMSCA, RCRA, CERLA, and TSCA).
- Organized and disciplines approach to documentation, development, maintenance and tracking of waste activities.
- Proficiency with eMWaste database.
- Applicants selected will be subject to a Federal background investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information or matter.
- U.S. citizenship required for Isotek Systems, LLC, project positions.
- Must be a U.S. citizen in order to be considered.

Additional information

Expected compensation range is between $90,000 - $150,000 annually depending on skills, experience, and geographical location.
