Licensed Behavioral Health Clinician (LCSW, LMFT, or LPCC)

This is a full-time on-site role for a registered, experienced, licensed behavioral health clinician (Licensed Clinical Social Worker [LCSW], Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor [LPCC], or Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist [LMFT]) at the  Long Beach  Campus, operated in partnership with National Healthcare & Housing Advisors (NHHA) , Whole Person Care Clinic (WPCC), and Encompass Housing (EH) . This position will require flexibility, innovation, and drive to implement new ideas and programs along with a passion for working with vulnerable populations.

The clinician will be responsible for conducting assessments, identifying behavioral health needs, providing direct behavioral health interventions, as well as possible supervisory duties for pre-licensure registered behavioral health clinicians in a Recuperative Care setting. The responsibilities of the clinician will include providing brief counseling (such as crisis intervention and de-escalation), psychosocial assessments, and mental health/substance use support; developing and implementing skill-building groups, relapse prevention groups, and process groups; maintaining accurate and timely documentation; communicating with and supporting multidisciplinary treatment teams; and addressing any other needs identified with the population to support their recovery. Licensed clinicians will be responsible for adhering to ethical and legal standards and ensuring compliance with related federal, state, and local regulations ; as well as accurately documenting and submitting billable claims . If applicable, supervisory responsibilities will include overseeing and providing effective supervision for associate-level clinicians, and may also include advanced support for program planning, policy and regulation interpretation/application, contract management , quality improvement implementation, and quality assurance application, along with clinical consultation, training, education, and evaluation. The role will involve working closely with vulnerable populations with complex needs.

Key Responsibilities

- Provide direct behavioral health support to clients in a Recuperative Care setting.

- Conduct behavioral health assessments, provide accurate behavioral health diagnoses, create appropriate treatment plan goals, and provide tailored clinical treatment to clients.

- Provide brief solution-focused and evidence-based counseling/psychotherapy, crisis intervention, behavioral health psychoeducation, and mental health/substance use interventions .

- Develop and implement skill-building groups, relapse prevention groups, and process groups, and be innovative in addressing any other needs identified with the population to support their recovery.

- Coordinate and communicate with outside clinical teams, including County Behavioral Health, partner organizations, and contracted providers.

- Work closely with vulnerable populations.

- Provide psychoeducation and support to non-licensed clinical staff as well as non-clinical staff.

- Facilitate clinical supervision as needed and adhere to California Board of Behavioral Health Services requirements for license-eligible associate clinicians .

- Meaningful engagement with cross-disciplinary treatment teams.

- Document services provide in accordance with applicable federal, state, and local rules and regulations and submit
timely and accurate claims for billable services.

Qualifications

- A valid and active registration as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT), or Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC) issued by the state licensing board (e.g., Board of Behavioral Sciences).

- Master's level degree or higher in social work, marriage and family therapy, psychology, clinical psychology, or counseling psychology from an accredited college or university.

- Experience working with vulnerable populations, especially those experiencing homelessness, severe and persistent mental illness, substance use, co-occurring conditions, and/or co-morbid complex medical conditions.

- Basic understanding of trauma-informed care and mental health risk assessment.

- Interpersonal and crisis de-escalation skills suited for the Recuperative Care setting.

- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team, willingness to learn, and desire to deliver behavioral health care in an integrated setting and support clients across social determinants of health (SDOH) domains.

- Experience with evidence-based interventions and theories.

- Ability to work effectively with diverse populations, including limited-English-proficient communities and the LGBTQ+ community.

- Passion for supporting vulnerable, disenfranchised populations.

- Ability to maintain
accurate clinical notes and documentation in electronic client care systems.

- Willingness to participate in and/or facilitate regular individual and/or group clinical supervision to review cases, share knowledge, and learn.
