CNC Technician II

The CNC Tech II is a skilled operator who demonstrates a working understanding of CNC machining, production drawings, and shop standards. This role requires the ability to run established programs with minimal supervision, troubleshoot routine issues, and consistently produce quality parts that meet production and design specifications.

The CNC Tech II contributes to team success through reliability, problem-solving, and consistent adherence to quality and safety expectations.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES/FUNCTIONS may include but are not limited to:

- Follows all company safety policies, procedures, and shop standards

- Sets up CNC machines including tooling, fixtures, and material placement according to job specifications
Runs CNC programs independently while maintaining accuracy and efficiency

- Verifies zero points, tooling, and material orientation prior to cutting

- Interprets production drawings and job packets with minimal guidance

- Performs in-process and final quality inspections to ensure dimensional accuracy and finish

- Troubleshoots routine machine, tooling, and material issues

- Makes approved adjustments to feeds, speeds, and toolpaths as needed

- Performs routine machine maintenance including cleaning, lubrication, and tooling replacement

- Maintains compliance with shop SOPs, workflows, and quality standards

- Recognizes potential production challenges and escalates appropriately

- Collaborates with production, engineering, and fabrication teams to support workflow

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES

- Can use overhead gantry with assistance

- Trained on forklift/scissor lifts

- Working knowledge of CNC machining principles and setups

- Ability to read and interpret production and engineering drawings

- Strong attention to detail and quality control
Independent problem-solving for routine machining challenges

- Reliable time management and task ownership

- Clear and professional communication

- Good knowledge of materials, tooling, and bit identification

- Competent operation of CNC machines and standard fabrication equipment

EDUCATION/CERTIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE

- 2-4 years of experience with operating CNC machines within a manufacturing environment required

- Familiarity with CNC programming languages such as G-code and M-code is preferred.

- OSHA 10 certificate preferred

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

- The employee is occasionally required to reach with hands and arms and stoop, kneel, climb, crouch, or crawl

- The employee must be able to occasionally lift and/or move up to 75 pounds

- The employee must be able to stand for extended periods of time

- Specific vision abilities required for this job include close vision, distant vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus

- Employee must be able to talk and hear

Due to our onsite Fabrication process, the work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee may encounter while performing the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, employee may be exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles and outside weather conditions.

This is an hourly (non-exempt) position.
