The Leidos Defense Sector is seeking a Software Test & Integration Engineer to support the U.S. Army Combat Capabilities Development Command – Soldier Center (DEVCOM SC) mission in Natick, MA. In this role, you will serve as the team’s primary software-focused engineer within a small, multidisciplinary government engineering team that includes aerospace/mechanical engineers and aerial delivery equipment specialists.

About the Role

As a Software Test & Integration Engineer , you will take technical ownership of software-related challenges, independently drive issues to resolution, support hands-on flight testing, and collaborate effectively across government, contractor, operational, and test organizations. Much of the work will focus on maintaining and evolving an established government-owned software codebase developed over the past decade.

Key Responsibilities

Flight Test & Field Operations Support

- Travel to drop zones and test ranges for flight test and demonstration events (typically 1–2 weeks per trip)
- Set up, configure, and operate ground stations and telemetry equipment in field environments
- Conduct pre-drop software and system checks; assist with rigging, load buildup, and aircraft loading
- Recover and validate flight data using software tools; deliver quick-look analyses to support go/no-go decisions
- Troubleshoot software and integration issues under tight timelines and austere field conditions

Software Integration Support

- Serve as the primary software engineering subject matter expert for the Cargo Aerial Delivery team
- Develop and execute software test procedures; investigate failures from lab, ground, and flight testing
- Operate integration test benches, software-in-the-loop (SIL), and hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) systems
- Maintain, adapt, and develop internal tools including telemetry/flight-log parsers, post-drop analysis scripts, ground station utilities, and basic imagery analysis tools
- Support broader engineering efforts as needed, including tasks outside traditional software roles

Cybersecurity Support

- Act as the technical focal point for Cyber Working Groups (CWG) and Risk Management Framework (RMF) activities
- Prepare cybersecurity documentation supporting Annual Security Reviews and Authorizations to Operate
- Run and interpret vulnerability scans; triage findings, propose remediation plans, and track them to closure

Required Qualifications

- Bachelor’s Degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, or related field with 4+ years of experience (additional experience/training/certifications may substitute for a degree)

- US Citizenship; ability to obtain and maintain a Common Access Card (CAC)

- Proven abilities with Python and/or C/C++ programming languages and software development

- Strong working knowledge in several of the following: Git/GitLab workflows
- Software configuration management and version control

- Software integration, debugging, and troubleshooting

- Software verification and testing

- Linux command-line environments

- Embedded software or firmware

- Software/hardware integration

- Reading and analyzing software logs and telemetry

- Proven ability to communicate technical information clearly across diverse technical teams

- Willingness to travel up to 25% depending on program needs

Preferred Qualifications

- Experience with embedded systems, avionics, robotics, autonomous systems, aerospace systems, or other software‑intensive physical systems

- Experience in developmental or operational test environments

- Hands-on troubleshooting experience in field or lab environments

- Experience reviewing source code or conducting merge request/code reviews

- Python experience developing data-processing or engineering analysis tools

- Experience working with government engineering teams or DoD programs

- Familiarity with DoD cybersecurity requirements and RMF processes

- AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner or equivalent cloud experience

- Strong analytical, technical, and communication skills

- Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within cross-functional teams

## Pay Range:
Pay Range $87,100.00 - $157,450.00
