Floor Maintenance Technician -FMT

Job Summary:
The FMT is primarily responsible for maintaining a variety of commercial customer flooring, with an emphasis on Vinyl Composition Tile (VCT), wooden floors, ceramic tile and grout, and concrete. Additional project work that may be performed includes carpet cleaning, industrial and construction cleaning, furniture and upholstery cleaning, vent cleaning, disinfection, and other specialty cleaning as requested by the customer. This position requires the utilization of various machines and equipment such as rotary scrubber (rotos), floor buffers, extractors, etc.

Responsibilities: Specific tasks will include, but are not limited to, the following:
• Report to the Project Manager daily for review of upcoming projects schedule.
• When scheduled to work, report to the ServiceMaster main office by 4:00pm (depending on the schedule) to gather and load necessary cleaning supplies and equipment onto the work van.
• Clock in and out of timekeeping system accurately each workday.
• Maintain a clean and orderly work van, supply room, and warehouse at the ServiceMaster office. This includes re-stocking cleaning solutions and materials, breaking down empty boxes, recycling and trash removal to office dumpsters, company vehicle cleanliness.
• Receive ongoing instruction and training from the Project Manager with the goal of demonstrating master-level proficiency in the restoration, care, and maintenance of multiple types of flooring procedures and processes.
• Manage building security with discretion; including safeguarding hard keys, key fobs, badges, lock boxes, etc.; and turning OFF/ON building alarm systems, if applicable.
• Communicate with the Project Manager regarding ALL schedule changes as far advance as possible (late start/early end of work shift, days off requests, planned absences, etc.)
• Professionally receive instruction, direction, and training from the Project Manager.
• Wear the proper Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) provided while performing cleaning tasks (i.e. cleaning gloves, face masks, anti-slip shoes, etc.) and comply with OSHA safety regulations.
• Report all safety/repair/security problems and/or environmental hazards to the Janitorial Project Manager immediately for further instructions.
• Self-inspect all work prior to closing shift, ensure the customer’s furniture and items are put back where they belong if moved, SM supplies and equipment are removed from the customer site, and workspace is clean and orderly upon departure.
• Adhere to all company policies and procedures as outlined in the Company Handbook.
• Additional tasks as assigned.

Qualifications & Skills:
• Must hold a valid driver’s license and have access to a reliable vehicle and/or drive the company work van on a daily basis.
• Flexibility in schedule and reliability to show up to work.
• Ability to work quickly and efficiently while multi-tasking.
• Ability to maintain a professional and courteous manner.
• Ability to read and comprehend simple, written instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
• Ability to write simple correspondence.
• Effectively manages time and meets deadlines.
• Must be able to pass a background check.
• Prior professional cleaning experience preferred.

Working Environment/Conditions:
Commercial sites which include but are not limited to the following industries and spaces: banking, educational, healthcare, product distribution, business, and government offices. While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be exposed to airborne particles.
