Primary Purpose

The Water Application Development Specialist provides technical expertise and water treatment solutions to customers, suppliers, and internal teams to drive sales growth, support customer success, and differentiate Univar Solutions through a consultative, solution-based approach. This role develops strategic partnerships, identifies business opportunities, and helps customers implement products and services that meet their water treatment needs.

What You Will Do

- Provide technical support and water treatment expertise to customers and sales teams.

- Recommend and implement water treatment products, services, and application solutions.

- Partner with customers to troubleshoot formulation and application challenges.

- Conduct joint customer visits with sales representatives and suppliers.

- Develop technical proposals and support business development initiatives.

- Monitor market, regulatory, and industry trends to identify new opportunities.

- Deliver customer, supplier, and internal training presentations.

- Serve as the primary technical liaison with supplier partners.

- Support new product launches, supplier qualification activities, and NSF requirements.

- Collaborate with suppliers on product development, service solutions, and market strategies.

- Assist with customer and supplier contract discussions and negotiations.

- Maintain customer opportunities, activities, and reports within SFDC.

- Support business planning, forecasting, and strategic growth initiatives.

- Participate in trade shows, industry conferences, webinars, and professional organizations.

- Partner with Operations to improve chemical handling processes and water-focused initiatives.

- Act as a bridge between Sales, Operations, suppliers, and customers to ensure business objectives are achieved.

- Provide product and industry training to sales, support, and operations teams.

What You Will Need

- 5+ years of sales experience with a technical product focus, preferably within water treatment, chemicals, or industrial solutions.

- Strong understanding of consultative selling and technical solution development.

- Experience working with customers, suppliers, and cross-functional teams at multiple organizational levels.

- Knowledge of water treatment products, applications, and industry regulations.

- Excellent communication, presentation, and relationship-building skills.

- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and priorities.

- Proven ability to identify opportunities, solve problems, and drive business growth.

- High level of professionalism, integrity, and business ethics.

- Proficiency with CRM systems (SFDC preferred) and Microsoft Office applications.

- Ability to travel and conduct customer-facing technical support activities.

- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Chemistry, Environmental Science, Water Technology, or a related field.

- Experience in chemical distribution or water treatment markets.

- Technical knowledge of NSF requirements, regulatory compliance, and water industry applications.

- Demonstrated training, presentation, and business development experience.

Where you will work

Ability to work remotely from a home office and travel extensively throughout the assigned territory.
Ability to travel Monday through Friday, including overnight travel, and be away from home for 3 to 5 consecutive days as business needs require.
Must reside within the Northeast District or Ohio Valley District, specifically in one of the following states:
Maryland
Virginia
West Virginia
Pennsylvania
Ohio
