The Director of Product, Retail Intelligence will define, develop, and commercialize Anderson Merchandisers’ retail intelligence product portfolio. This role will transform large-scale retail shelves and display imagery into structured, market-ready data and measurement products for consumer goods brands. The Director will own product definition, customer commitments, pricing and packaging, accuracy standards, service levels, and product sequencing from proof of concept through commercial launch.

This is a hands-on, zero-to-one product leadership role. The position will partner closely with the General Manager, Product Data Owner, internal engineering and analytics teams, field operations, commercial leaders, customers, and external development partners to create products that are measurable, reliable, commercially viable, and scalable.

SUPERVISION

The Director of Product, Retail Intelligence reports directly to the General Manager, Retail Intelligence. This role is expected to operate as an individual contributor during the initial build phase and may assume people's leadership responsibilities as the business grows.

What would you do in this role?

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

- Lead the product’s vision, strategy, roadmap, and lifecycle for Anderson’s retail intelligence portfolio.

- Define each separately sellable product module, including the customer problem addressed, data output, intended use, limitations, commercial promise, and success measures.

- Translate customer and market needs into clear product requirements, specifications, acceptance criteria, and prioritized development plans.

- Establish accuracy standards by module and product category, including separate precision and recall expectations, validation methods, and release thresholds.

- Determine which product outputs carry contractual service or accuracy commitments, and which are delivered as clearly labeled reported data.

- Create and govern the process for moving products from research and proof of concept through validation, commercialization, and scaled delivery.

- Oversee external development partners by defining acceptance criteria, held-out test requirements, category-level thresholds, staged delivery expectations, and measurable results.

- Partner with internal engineering, data, analytics, operations, and commercial teams to ensure products are technically feasible, operationally supportable, and ready for customers.

- Lead pricing, packaging, and product positioning in partnership with the General Manager and commercial team.

- Engage design partners and customers to validate needs, refine product capabilities, and incorporate structured feedback into the roadmap.

- Protect product sequencing and scope by distinguishing development priority, readiness for guarantee, and readiness for sale.

- Develop product documentation, launch requirements, customer-facing definitions, and internal enablement materials.

- Establish and monitor product performance measures, customer adoption indicators, quality trends, and renewal drivers.

- Identify product, data, operational, and commercial risks and recommend mitigation plans.

- Communicate product decisions, tradeoffs, progress, and performance clearly to executives, cross-functional partners, customers, and vendors.

- Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

- Bachelor’s degree in product management, business, analytics, computer science, engineering, marketing, or related field, or equivalent relevant experience.

- Demonstrated experience building and launching business-to-business data, analytics, measurement, or intelligence products that customers purchase and renew.

- Experience taking a product from concept or proof of concept through commercial launch and ongoing product management.

- Experience governing vendor-built machine learning, computer vision, artificial intelligence, data, or analytics solutions, including personally defining measurable acceptance criteria.

- Working knowledge of model and data-quality concepts, including precision, recall, error rates, confidence, validation, and performance by segment or category.

- Experience developing product pricing, packaging, positioning, service levels, and customer commitments.

- Strong ability to translate technical capabilities and limitations into clear commercial decisions and customer-facing expectations.

- Proven success working across engineering, data, analytics, operations, sales, finance, legal, and client-facing teams.

- Excellent written, verbal, presentation, facilitation, and executive communication skills.

- Ability to operate independently, manage ambiguity, make disciplined tradeoffs, and deliver results in a fast-moving build environment.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

- Experience in shelf intelligence, retail measurement, retail media, shopper marketing, syndicated data, consumer goods, category management, pricing, or revenue growth management.

- Experience with image-based analytics, computer vision, retail execution data, store-level measurement, or large-scale data products.

- Experience working with design partners, enterprise customers, or early adopters to shape a new product offering.

- Experience establishing governance, quality controls, and service expectations for products with varying levels of accuracy or maturity.

WORKING CONDITIONS

This position is based in Plano, Texas, with a hybrid work arrangement. The role requires regular collaboration with internal teams, external partners, and customers. Occasional travel may be required based on business and customer needs.
