Title of Position: Industrial Maintenance Mechanic Foreman-2nd Shift

Location: Belle Mead, NJ (Near Princeton, NJ) (2nd Shift- 2:00 pm start time)

Pay Range: $42.21 - $49.28 (this is based on previous or relevant quarry/maintenance mechanic + foreman experience)

At Gibraltar Rock, our rock mine, the Industrial Maintenance Mechanic Foreman completes numerous tasks involved in the installation, maintenance, and repair of production and production-related equipment. They demonstrate initiative and responsibility, have strong interpersonal skills, and are flexible/adaptive to a fast-paced, fluid business environment. Additionally, we encourage Maintenance Mechanics to participate in company-paid continuing education to stay current on both the technical knowledge related to their profession and changes related to safety compliance. To help achieve that goal, we offer on-the-job training, formal coursework for certifications, and tuition reimbursement.

Position Essential Functions Responsibilities

- Plans preventative maintenance, plant projects, and scheduled shutdowns with the maintenance manager

- Leads/schedules a crew of 3-4 mechanics for daily plant maintenance

- Responsible for getting parts list to manager to keep progress on all projects/maintenance

- Performs skilled maintenance on rock quarry equipment such as but not limited to the rock crusher, conveyor belts, electrical panels and similar equipment.

- Inspects and determines the nature of difficulties and malfunctions and takes necessary action to restore equipment to good operating order.

- Evaluates equipment failures for root cause, communicates findings, makes suggestions for equipment improvements, and is able to install modifications as directed.

- Performs daily rounds checklist on operating equipment, observing the machine in operation and listening to sounds to detect unusual operation.

- Follow preventative maintenance schedules and procedures, recording all pertinent information.

- Assist with maintenance and repairs on compressors, generators, fans and motors, pumps, gearboxes, mixers, blowers, conveyors, hydraulic systems, pneumatic systems, and maintenance equipment.

- Lubricating, cleaning, and servicing equipment.

- Keeps the work area clean and safe.

- Obtains, stores, records, safeguards and properly uses equipment, materials and supplies.

- Completes work assignments in the allotted time frame.

Qualifications

- At least 5 year’s of experience as a Maintenance Mechanic at a similar position or a position with transferable skills to quarry equipment.

- Valid Driver's License.

- Education from a technical school in a related field preferred (welding, electrical, maintenance etc.)

- Welding experience required, particularly in mig, stick, and overhead.

- Quarry/mining experience a plus but not required.

- Gyratory Crusher experience a plus but not required.

- Possess a working knowledge of Hydraulic and Pneumatic systems.

- Knowledge of the common reasons for mechanical failure and the steps necessary to correct malfunctioning on different types of motors/machinery.

- Ability to read and interpret maintenance manuals, using diagram schematics and parts manual.

- Knowledge and experience with safety regulations, i.e. OSHA, MSHA, as they apply to the operation a plus but not required.

- Must possess an even temperament to work under pressure to prevent costly delays in production that can result from machinery breakdown

- Must have willingness to put in extra hours of work when necessary.

- Ability to work independently.

- Possesses a sense of urgency and ownership to complete assignments/projects through to completion.

- Ability to respond with flexibility and efficiency to frequent changes in task focus, competing priorities, and multiple deadlines.

Physical Requirements

- Lift 50 pounds regularly and up to 100 pounds on occasion.

- Use one or two hands to grasp, move, or assemble objects

- Stand for long periods of time.

- Kneel, stoop, crouch, bend, stretch, twist or crawl.

- Hear sounds and recognize the difference between them.

- See details of objects that are less than a few feet away.

- See differences between colors, shades, and brightness.
