Mission: SSG-Project 180 provides practical and clinical behavioral health, re-entry, and diversion solutions that empower justice-involved Angelenos to achieve lasting personal transformation and reclaim their lives.
Org. Summary: Project 180 is a leader in the forensic treatment space, offering high-quality, specialized treatment programs that serve thousands of justice-involved individuals. Our programs span criminal justice intercepts and include pre-arrest interventions, court-based diversions, jail in-reach, and intensive post-release services. Project 180 operates in partnership with County agencies including the Department of Mental Health (DMH), the Department of Health Services (DHS), and the Justice, Care and Opportunities Department (JCOD). Annually, we serve over 1,500 justice-involved individuals.

The Position
In this fast-paced and impactful role, the Operations & Business Systems Manager oversees operational systems, internal controls, and Project 180’s core technology and automation portfolio. Reporting to the Sr. Director of Operations or Division Director, this role combines financial operations leadership with hands-on systems architecture to eliminate administrative friction across departments.
Project 180 (P180) is a division within the nonprofit Special Service for Groups, Inc. (SSG), which oversees select HR and financial administration functions on behalf of P180. The position serves as the critical bridge between P180 and SSG accounting functions, while actively managing software applications, integrations, automated workflows, and emerging AI solutions.
Essential Functions:
Business Systems, Automation & AI Implementation
- Application Ownership: Oversee technical development and ongoing maintenance of FRED (P180’s internal finance application) and its supporting digital ecosystem.
- System Integrations: Build and manage secure API and custom connectors linking P180 systems with external SSG platforms (Exym, Bill.com, Concur) and cross-departmental spreadsheets, Apps Scripts, and email tools.
- Workflow Automation: Identify operational bottlenecks and implement automated workflows across departments to reduce manual data handoffs and duplicate entry.
- AI & Agent Evaluation: Pilot and deploy practical HIPPA-compliant AI solutions (e.g., automated email-to-FRED invoice extraction tools) to improve administrative speed and accuracy.
Financial Leadership & Planning
- SSG Accounting Alignment: Serve as P180’s internal accounting lead with SSG, ensuring AP/AR alignment and audit readiness.
- Budgeting & FP&A: Execute monthly variance analysis and multi-source funding forecasts; assist in annual program budget creation.
- Reporting: Generate monthly financial dashboards and operational performance reports.
Operational Excellence & Asset Management
- Asset Lifecycle Control: Oversee asset acquisition, depreciation, multi-year replacement schedules, and quarterly inventory audits.
- Cross-Functional Partnering: Collaborate with People & Culture on employee lifecycle logistics and equipment provisioning.
- Vendor Management: Evaluate vendor performance against service level agreements (SLAs) and identify opportunities for contract consolidation and cost optimization.
Special Projects
- Ad-hoc projects with program directors and/or executive team
Staff Supervision
- Oversee 1-2 Operations Coordinators.
- Supervise staff to meet performance expectations. Provide regular coaching and feedback, conduct annual performance reviews, and implement disciplinary actions as needed.

Skills and Abilities
- Systems Architecture: Ability to map complex business processes and design simple, integrated software/automation solutions.
- Collaborative Leadership: Proven track record of influencing cross-functional stakeholders and aligning technology with non-technical team needs.
- Prioritization & Resource Allocation: Capability to balance daily operational urgency with long-term technology development goals.
- Technical Fluency: Comfort with custom App Scripts, API integrations, ERP platforms, and emerging AI tools.
- Problem-Solving: A proactive, solutions-oriented mindset with the ability to take initiative in ambiguous or rapidly changing environments.
- Adaptability: Resilient and flexible when navigating organizational shifts, new regulations, or evolving business needs.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Business, Accounting, or related field
- Demonstrated experience developing financial workflows, internal controls, and process automations.
- Advanced experience with Google Workspace (Google Apps Script), Excel, and ERP systems (Sage preferred).
- Experience managing staff and contractors
- Verification of Employment Eligibility and Background Check required
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in nonprofit or healthcare sector financial operations.
- 4+ years of combined experience in financial operations and business systems management.
- Proven track record building system integrations (APIs) and implementing AI/automation tools in business contexts.
- Experience managing government grant funding structures.
Supervisory Responsibilities
Operations & Business Systems Manager will directly manage 1-2 staff members
Environmental Conditions (Working Conditions)
The Operations & Business Systems Manager will be based in P180’s headquarters in downtown Los Angeles and will need to perform job duties in office and field settings, including SSG’s headquarters, and other Project 180 locations as needed.
Physical Requirements
The employee is expected to carry a maximum of 20 lbs, listen, and speak in order to complete job requirements.
