Transfer Admissions Counselor - Traditional Day

Reporting t o the Executive Director of Admissions, the Transfer Admissions Counselor is responsible for recruiting, counseling, and enrolling prospective transfer students into Indiana Techs traditional undergraduate programs. This position serves as the primary point of contact for transfer students throughout the admissions process, including application review, transfer credit evaluation coordination, financial aid guidance, and enrollment advising.

The Transfer Admissions Counselor develops and maintains relationships with community colleges, faculty, staff, and external partners to facilitate transfer pathways and increase transfer student enrollment. The position works collaboratively with the Transfer Advisor in the Office of Student Success and other campus partners to support a seamless transition from admission through enrollment, promote student success, and enhance the overall transfer student experience.

Work will be performed in a manner that contributes to the universitys enrollment objectives while supporting Indiana Techs mission, vision, and values. The Transfer Admissions Counselor serves as an active member of the Indiana Tech Transfer Task Force and collaborates across campus to improve transfer processes, strengthen partnerships, and advance initiatives that support transfer student recruitment, enrollment, and success.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Transfer Recruitment and Enrollment

- Recruit prospective transfer students through in-person appointments, phone calls, text messaging, email communications, virtual meetings, and admissions events.

- Manage transfer recruitment and develop strategies to increase transfer student enrollment.

- Build and maintain relationships with community colleges, academic advisors, faculty, and transfer coordinators.

- Represent Indiana Tech at transfer fairs, community college visits, campus events, and other recruitment activities.

- Assist transfer students through the admissions, financial aid, and enrollment processes.

- Conduct individual counseling sessions with students regarding transfer opportunities, degree programs, costs, and scholarship options.

- Develop and execute transfer-specific communication and recruitment plans designed to generate applications, deposits, and enrollments.

Transfer Credit Evaluation and Admissions Review

- Request, monitor, and coordinate transfer credit evaluations with the Transfer Advisor and other campus partners.

- Review completed transfer evaluations with students and explain degree applicability, remaining requirements, and graduation pathways.

- Conduct preliminary reviews of transcripts and admissions documents to determine admissions eligibility and application readiness.

- Make admissions recommendations and decisions in accordance with institutional policies and established admission standards.

- Advocate for students to maximize transferability of previously earned coursework.

- Complete transcript reviews, transfer credit evaluations, admissions evaluations, application processing, and other enrollment-related duties as needed during peak application and enrollment periods.

Student Success Collaboration

- Collaborate closely with the Transfer Advisor in the Office of Student Success to support a seamless transition for transfer students from admission through enrollment and persistence.

- Coordinate regularly regarding transfer student needs, academic planning, registration readiness, and student support services.

- Partner with the Transfer Advisor to identify and address barriers to enrollment, retention, and student success.

- Participate in joint outreach efforts and initiatives designed to improve the transfer student experience and increase student persistence.

- Share relevant student information and enrollment updates in accordance with institutional policies to ensure continuity of support throughout the student lifecycle.

Indiana Tech Transfer Task Force

- Serve as an active member of the Indiana Tech Transfer Task Force.

- Collaborate with campus partners to identify opportunities to improve transfer student recruitment, enrollment, retention, and graduation outcomes.

- Assist in the development and implementation of transfer initiatives, articulation agreements, policies, and procedures.

- Provide feedback and recommendations based on transfer student trends, challenges, and enrollment data.

- Support institutional efforts to create and enhance transfer pathways that improve student access and success.

Team Collaboration and Operational Support

- Participate in admissions events including visit programs, open houses, accepted student events, orientation activities, and transfer-specific programs.

- Assist with recruitment travel, presentations, and outreach initiatives as assigned.

- Support departmental recruitment initiatives and collaborate with admissions staff to ensure enrollment goals are achieved.

- Contribute to a positive team environment and assist with special projects and additional responsibilities as assigned.

- Adhere to all university, state, and federal regulations related to student recruitment and admissions practices.

Measures of Accomplishment

- Achievement of individual and departmental transfer enrollment goals.

- Growth in transfer applications, admits, deposits, and enrolled students.

- Timely completion of transfer credit evaluations and admissions decisions.

- Development and maintenance of community college partnerships and transfer pathways.

- Effective participation and contribution to the Indiana Tech Transfer Task Force.

- Accurate and timely documentation of student interactions within Slate CRM.

- Positive service and responsiveness to students, families, and campus partners.

Qualifications

Required

- Bachelors degree from an accredited college or university.

- Strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills.

- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

- Ability to travel and maintain insurability under university requirements.

Preferred

- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and Slate CRM, preferred.

- Previous experience in admissions, higher education, recruitment, sales, customer service, or transfer student services, preferred.

- Familiarity with transfer credit evaluation processes, articulation agreements, and student success initiatives, preferred.

Experience

Two years or more work experience within admissions is preferred, and bachelors degree required.
