Software Engineer

**Role Description** The Software Engineer will design, build, and maintain high-performance backend systems that power Volaren’s investment and analytics platform. Day-to-day responsibilities include implementing scalable APIs, integrating data sources, optimizing system reliability, and collaborating with product and quantitative teams to translate financial and AI-driven requirements into robust software solutions. The role involves writing clean, well-tested code, participating in code reviews, and contributing to architectural decisions that support secure, real-time financial analytics.

**Other Responsibilities:**

Write code for large scale data analysis and processing, backtesting and quantitative models across the financial markets

Full stack software development and AI engineering

Deploy AI agents that run internally to do run evals, review and optimize code, take care of processes and others.

Deploy user facing agents that do tasks for the users.

This is a full-time hybrid role based in the San Francisco Bay Area, with a mix of on-site collaboration and work-from-home flexibility.

**Qualifications**

* Strong foundation in Computer Science, including algorithms, data structures, and system design, and AI engineering
* Proficiency in Software Development and Programming with Python and data analysis
* Hands-on experience in Back-End Web Development, building and maintaining APIs, services, data pipelines, and building and deploying AI harnesses and agents.
* Solid understanding of Object-Oriented Programming (OOP) principles and their application in production systems.
* Familiarity with databases and data processing (SQL/NoSQL, streaming, or batch processing) in high-availability environments.
* Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
* Interest in financial markets, quantitative investing, or AI-driven products is a plus.
