Software Development Engineer II

As a Software Development Engineer II on the Seller Compliance team at Amazon, you will design, build, and deliver features that help solve complex regulatory challenges across Amazon's EU marketplace. You will own your work across the full software development lifecycle — from understanding customer needs through design, implementation, testing, deployment, and operations. This role puts you at the center of our compliance automation platform, where you will build workflow automation capabilities powered by generative AI. Key job responsibilities
- Design and implement software solutions across major portions of your team's systems, balancing new feature development with refactoring and operational improvements to maintain a healthy and extensible codebase.
- Collaborate with customers, stakeholders, and cross-functional peers to understand business and customer needs, ensuring the solutions you deliver are well-aligned with both technical and product requirements.
- Mentor and coach other engineers through code reviews, design discussions, and hands-on guidance, raising the quality bar for the team and helping newer team members ramp up effectively.
- Identify root causes of operational issues and drive permanent fixes, contributing to your team's operational excellence and reducing recurring support costs.
- Evaluate emerging tools and approaches — including generative AI capabilities — to improve development workflows, and make recommendations for adoption that increase team productivity and code quality.

About the team
The Seller Compliance team builds the services that keep Amazon's EU marketplace growing by solving complex regulatory challenges for third-party sellers. We own the compliance automation platform, which provides end-to-end workflow automation and governance capabilities, increasingly powered by generative AI. Our engineers work closely with product, legal, and policy partners to translate evolving regulations into scalable technical solutions. Basic Qualifications

- 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
- 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
- Experience programming with at least one software programming language
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent

Preferred Qualifications

- 3+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience
