Software Development Engineer

- Design, develop, and maintain custom ABAP programs, enhancements, and extensions on SAP S/4HANA and ECC systems.

- Build and expose SAP APIs (OData V2/V4 services) for integration with internal and external systems, third-party applications, and Fiori/UI5 apps.

- Develop managed and unmanaged RAP (RESTful ABAP Programming Model) business objects, behavior definitions, and implementations following clean core principles.

- Implement CDS Views (Core Data Services) with appropriate annotations for OData exposure, analytics, and RAP-based transactional apps.

- Collaborate with functional consultants and integration teams to design end-to-end API strategies for SAP-to-SAP and SAP-to-non-SAP integrations.

- Support and contribute to SAP BTP-based extension projects (e.g., side-by-side extensibility, CAP model basics, integration with SAP Integration Suite, or BTP ABAP Environment/Steampunk) as needed.

- Perform code reviews, unit testing, and performance tuning to ensure high-quality, scalable, and maintainable code.

- Participate in requirement gathering, technical design, and documentation for development objects.

- Troubleshoot and resolve production issues related to APIs, OData services, and custom developments.

- Ensure adherence to ABAP development standards, clean core methodology, and SAP best practices.

- Familiarity with SAP Gateway, API Management, and integration technologies (IDocs, RFCs, Web Services, REST/SOAP).

- Understanding of SAP S/4HANA architecture and clean core extensibility principles.

- Experience with Git-based version control, ADT (ABAP Development Tools in Eclipse), and Agile/Scrum delivery methods is a plus.

- 6–8 years of overall ABAP development experience, including OOP ABAP, Enhancement Framework, BAdIs, and User Exits.
- Strong, hands-on experience developing OData services (SEGW / RAP-based) and consuming/exposing SAP APIs.
- Solid experience with RAP (RESTful ABAP Programming Model) — behavior definitions, behavior implementations, projection views, and RAP-based Fiori Elements apps.
- Proficiency in CDS Views development with annotations for UI, analytics, and OData exposure.
- Working knowledge of SAP BTP — exposure to ABAP Environment (Steampunk), Integration Suite, or side-by-side extension concepts is desirable.
