About this role
## 🚀 Shape Sensat’s Utility Customer Strategy Across the US
This isn’t about inheriting a finished function.
It’s about joining Sensat at an early stage of our US growth and helping us build trusted, high-value relationships with some of the country’s most important utility organisations.
We’ve already proved our value in the UK, working with some of the world’s largest infrastructure organisations. Over the last 12 months, we’ve expanded internationally and are now growing our presence and team in the US.
We’re looking for someone with deep, first-hand knowledge of the US utility market who understands how technology is evaluated, funded, procured and adopted within complex, regulated organisations.
You’ll help our customers realise measurable value from Sensat, scale adoption across their organisations and ensure that our product and US strategy reflect what utilities genuinely need.
🛠️ What you’ll be doing
You’ll be responsible for:
- Strategic Relationship & Stakeholder Management: Build trusted relationships with senior US utility stakeholders while identifying key teams, processes and barriers to adoption.
- Adoption & Value-Realisation Planning: Develop customer adoption plans to deliver clear, measurable outcomes tied to client priorities.
- Pilot Delivery Partnership: Work closely with Customer Partnerships and Solutions Engineering throughout pilots to ensure customers achieve clear, measurable outcomes.
- Executive Value Reviews & Commercial Growth: Lead executive-level outcome reviews to build internal buy-in, address challenges and identify opportunities for wider adoption.
- Change Management & Procurement Navigation: Guide customers through operational change, procurement, budget cycles, governance and regulatory processes.
- Cross-Functional Strategy Alignment: Unify internal teams, including Product, Marketing and Customer Partnerships around a shared customer strategy, creating playbooks to drive repeatability.
- Customer Advocacy & Market Intelligence: Serve as the voice of US utility customers to shape Sensat’s product roadmap and advise on how utilities evaluate and deploy digital technology.
- NRR & Commercial Partnership: Share accountability for US NRR by identifying renewal risks and expansion opportunities, building the case for wider adoption and working with the commercial lead to turn customer value into renewals and expanded agreements.
💭 You might be the kind of person we’re looking for if...
You understand utilities from the inside and know that adopting new technology in a regulated environment is rarely straightforward.
You can navigate complex organisations, identify how decisions are really made and build alignment across operational, technical, regulatory and executive stakeholders.
You know how to connect technology investment to measurable business outcomes and communicate that value clearly to senior leaders.
You enjoy building something new, creating structure and using your experience to help a growing company make better decisions.
You’re comfortable influencing people without relying on formal authority and can bring different internal and external teams together around a shared objective.
## 🎯 Your experience might look something like this...
- Significant experience working within or closely alongside major US electricity utilities, with a strong understanding of how they operate, invest and make decisions.
- Experience leading digital transformation, technology-adoption or value-realisation programmes within utilities or similarly regulated infrastructure organisations.
- A track record of moving digital products or programmes from initial implementation into wider organisational adoption.
- Experience building business cases and demonstrating the operational and financial value of technology investment within a utility environment.
- A track record of building trusted relationships with senior and executive stakeholders across the US utilities market.
- Experience navigating complex utility procurement, regulatory requirements, governance structures and competing organisational priorities.
- A data-led approach to measuring adoption, customer outcomes and realised value.
- Strong cross-functional leadership, with experience bringing Product, Technology, Operations and Commercial teams together around a shared objective.
🌱 You’ll thrive here if...
- You enjoy building something new rather than joining a finished machine.
- You like having autonomy and being trusted to make decisions.
- You’re comfortable operating with limited resources and taking a hands-on approach.
- You enjoy sharing your knowledge and helping teams understand a complex market.
- You’re comfortable working closely with colleagues in the UK and maintaining regular overlap with UK working hours.
- You’re able to travel to strategic customers and key industry events when required, with the expected frequency agreed as part of the process.
- You’re motivated by solving meaningful problems for organisations operating some of the world’s most important infrastructure.
## 📈 What success could look like
During your first six to twelve months, you will have:
- Built a clear understanding of Sensat’s US utility customers, stakeholders and strategic priorities.
- Established adoption and value-realisation plans across our priority customer engagements.
- Strengthened Sensat’s relationships with senior utility stakeholders.
- Contributed to Sensat’s US NRR target by identifying and progressing renewal and expansion opportunities alongside the commercial lead.
- Created a consistent framework for measuring and communicating customer value.
- Helped customers navigate the internal barriers that can prevent successful technology adoption.
- Provided actionable utility-market insight to Sensat’s Product, Customer Partnerships and GTM teams.
- Developed a repeatable playbook for supporting utility adoption and customer value in the US.
