Job Summary

The Senior Project Manager (Sr. PM) is responsible for leading the planning, execution, governance, and successful delivery of complex customer-facing and internal strategic initiatives across Data Center Infrastructure, Artificial Intelligence (AI), Cybersecurity, and related technology solution domains. Utilizing PMI project management methodologies and best practices, the Sr. PM ensures projects are delivered within approved scope, schedule, budget, and quality objectives while maintaining a high level of customer satisfaction.

Acting as the primary point of contact and trusted advisor for customers and key stakeholders, the Sr. PM provides end-to-end project leadership from opportunity engagement and solution validation through implementation and project closure. This role partners closely with Sales, Presales, Engineering, Integration Center Operations, Logistics, Delivery Services, Warehouse Operations, and Customer teams to coordinate resources, manage dependencies, validate requirements, review configurations and bills of materials, mitigate risks, and drive successful outcomes.

Operating under the direction of the Director of PMO, the Sr. PM leads highly visible, cross-functional initiatives and provides governance, executive-level communication, financial oversight, risk management, and change control throughout the project lifecycle. The individual is expected to proactively identify challenges, drive resolution of complex issues, facilitate stakeholder alignment, and contribute to the continuous improvement and maturity of the IDCS Project Management Office.

Through strong leadership, customer engagement, and operational excellence, the Sr. PM plays a critical role in ensuring successful delivery of Data Center, AI, Cybersecurity, and digital transformation initiatives while supporting the strategic growth objectives of the organization.

The IDCS Senior Project Manager reports to the Director of IDCS PMO. This position is required to report to the SHI Piscataway, NJ office location as determined by SHI management with some travel.

Role Description

Project Leadership & Customer Engagement

- Serve as the primary point of contact and trusted advisor for customers, internal stakeholders, and project teams throughout the project lifecycle.
- Host, plan, and facilitate project kickoff meetings with customers, sales teams, engineering, and delivery stakeholders to establish project objectives, success criteria, roles, responsibilities, timelines, and expectations.
- Lead multiple concurrent customer-facing and internal initiatives across Data Center Infrastructure, Artificial Intelligence (AI), Cybersecurity, and related technology solution domains.
- Provide proactive project leadership from opportunity engagement and solution validation through implementation, deployment, and project closure.
- Conduct regular governance reviews, status meetings, executive briefings, and customer updates to ensure alignment and transparency.

Project Planning, Execution & Delivery

- Develop and maintain comprehensive project plans, schedules, milestones, resource requirements, and communication plans to ensure successful delivery within scope, budget, and schedule.
- Manage project execution utilizing PMI-based project management methodologies, tools, and best practices.
- Track project deliverables, dependencies, critical milestones, risks, and action items while adjusting project plans to accommodate changing priorities, urgent customer requests, and evolving business requirements.
- Drive project activities to completion and ensure all customer commitments and contractual deliverables are achieved.

Technical Validation & Solution Readiness

- Validate customer requirements, technical configurations, statements of work, bills of materials (BOMs), and build documentation to ensure accuracy, completeness, and alignment prior to project execution.
- Partner with Engineering, Presales, and Solution Architects to verify design approvals and deployment readiness before project commencement.
- Review implementation plans and coordinate readiness activities to ensure successful deployment outcomes.

Cross-Functional Coordination & Resource Management

- Coordinate and align activities across Sales, Presales, Engineering, Integration Center Operations, Warehouse Operations, Logistics, Delivery Services, Data Center Operations, AI, Cybersecurity, and Customer teams.
- Verify inventory availability and stock levels for project-related equipment and materials prior to project initiation.
- Coordinate domestic and international shipping, logistics, delivery schedules, and deployment activities to meet customer requirements.
- Facilitate resource planning and scheduling activities, including field engineers, technicians, integration teams, and third-party vendors.

Customer Satisfaction & Communication Management

- Maintain consistent and effective communication with customers and internal stakeholders to ensure expectations are clearly understood and managed.
- Keep customers and project teams informed of upcoming milestones, dependencies, project health, risks, and action items.
- Build strong customer relationships through proactive engagement, responsiveness, and effective issue resolution.
- Ensure timely communication of project changes, impacts, risks, and decisions to all relevant stakeholders.

Risk, Issue & Escalation Management

- Proactively identify, evaluate, and mitigate project risks, assumptions, constraints, and dependencies.
- Serve as the primary escalation point for project-related issues and coordinate resolution efforts across customers, vendors, partners, and internal organizations.
- Engage leadership and escalation management resources when necessary to facilitate resolution of critical issues and maintain project momentum.
- Develop mitigation strategies and recovery plans to minimize project impacts and improve delivery outcomes.

Governance, Documentation & Reporting

- Maintain project governance artifacts including project plans, RAID logs, status reports, executive dashboards, meeting minutes, decision logs, and change requests.
- Record, document, and distribute meeting minutes and action items for project meetings, governance reviews, customer calls, and executive discussions.
- Provide accurate project reporting, forecasts, and performance metrics to leadership and stakeholders.
- Ensure compliance with PMO governance standards, project methodologies, and organizational processes.

Operational Management

- Support project forecasting, resource planning, and tracking activities.
- Monitor project performance and manage scope changes through established change control processes.
- Ensure operational readiness and coordination across all delivery functions to achieve successful project outcomes.

Continuous Improvement & Organizational Maturity

- Lead post-project reviews, lessons learned sessions, and project retrospectives to identify improvement opportunities.
- Analyze project outcomes and implement process enhancements to improve delivery efficiency, customer experience, quality, and scalability.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement and maturity of the IDCS PMO through standardization, governance enhancements, knowledge sharing, and best practice adoption.
- Mentor and support junior project managers while promoting a culture of accountability, collaboration, and operational excellence.

Skill Level Requirements

Education

- Bachelor's Degree in Business, Management, Information Technology, Engineering, Computer Science, or related field.

Experience

- 8+ years of Project Management experience managing complex technology projects.
- 5+ years leading large-scale infrastructure, Data Center, AI, Cybersecurity, or cloud initiatives.
- 7+ years of experience managing customer-facing engagements from initiation through closure.
- Demonstrated success leading multi-disciplinary teams across multiple workstreams.
- Experience presenting project updates to executive leadership and customers.
- Strong background in risk management, governance, and stakeholder communications.

The estimated annual pay range for this position is $150,000 - $190,000 which includes a base salary and bonus. The compensation for this position is dependent on job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and market location and, therefore, will vary from individual to individual. Benefits may include, but are not limited to, medical, vision, dental, 401K, and flexible spending.
