About this role

Job Title: Head of Data & Analytics
Salary: £100,000- £110,000 + Bonus + EV Allowance
Location: Hybrid (2-3 days per week in London office) We're looking for a Head of Data and Analytics to own our data strategy and turn the information flowing through Pod into decisions that grow the business. You'll build and lead a small central data team, and work in partnership with data analysts based across our functions, from installer operations to customer experience, giving them the standards and direction to do their best work.

This is a senior leadership role reporting to our CIO. You'll set the direction for how Pod uses data and the standards for managing it well, and you'll be the person our leadership team turns to for the insight behind our biggest decisions.

How we work matters as much as the tools. We follow a 'manage the core, free the edge' approach.

The core is well-governed and observable. Working closely with Architecture on a shared data model so published facts are consistent, joinable and open. Platform Engineering builds and operates the platform. Software teams identify and publish facts they own.

This role owns the reporting layer: the single, trusted set of business measures and definitions the rest of Pod reports from. Teams across the organisation, from operations to sales to finance, are then free to explore and act on this data for themselves, supported by the analysts this role leads.

We favour open, engine-agnostic formats over proprietary warehouse lock-in, and we are building AI and agents in as a first-class way to explore and interpret data.

Here's what our CIO had to say:

"At Pod, data isn't a support function, it's a core part of how we make decisions, serve customers and scale our business. We're looking for someone who can bring together strategy, governance, analytics and AI to create a trusted data foundation that helps every team move faster and make better decisions. This is an opportunity to shape how data is used across the organisation and have a direct impact on our growth, customer experience and operational excellence."

‎What You'll Do:

Data Strategy & Leadership -
- You’ll define and own Pod's data and analytics strategy, aligned to commercial and operational priorities
- You’ll participate in the extended leadership team, advising on how data can sharpen decision-making across the business.
- As well as Shaping the roadmap for our data capability as a shared, well-governed core, working closely with software engineering and architecture.
Data Standards & Reporting -
- You’ll own Pod’s governed reporting layer: the single, trusted set of business measures and their definitions that the rest of Pod reports from.
- You’ll set standards for data analyst practice across Pod, and support the analysts applying them wherever they sit.
- As well as evaluating and introducing new reporting, BI, and analytics tools and platforms that give teams fast, trustworthy access to data, favouring open, engine-agnostic formats over proprietary warehouse lock-in.
AI, Business Intelligence & Analytics -
- You’ll own the use of AI and agents as a core way to query, explore and interpret our data — for example natural-language and agent access over governed data (semantic layers / MCP), underpinned by a sound access-control model.
- You’ll lead the development of dashboards, reporting and self-serve analytics that give teams fast, trustworthy answers
- As well as partnering with commercial, operations, product and customer experience teams to turn questions into insight and champion a data-driven culture, helping teams move from gut feel to evidence.
Data Governance & Quality -
- You’ll establish data governance standards, covering quality, security, privacy and regulatory compliance
- You’ll set and govern data-quality standards such as freshness and granularity, holding teams accountable for the facts they publish
- As well as working closely with IT and security teams to keep our data safe and compliant.
Team & Stakeholder Leadership -
- You’ll build, lead and develop a small central Data & Analytics team
- You’ll provide dotted-line direction to data analysts embedded in other functions, creating a consistent community of practice across Pod
- As well as being as a mentor and role model, raising data capability across the wider business.
Commercial Impact -
- You’ll translate data into commercial outcomes: revenue growth, cost efficiency and better customer experience
- You’ll present insight and recommendations to senior stakeholders, including the executive team
- As well as measuring and reporting on the impact of data initiatives, so we know what's working.

What You'll Bring:

Data Leadership Experience

You've successfully led a data, analytics or business intelligence function, ideally within a fast-growing or scaling organisation. You're comfortable setting strategy, building capability and ensuring data delivers measurable value across the business.
Strong Technical Breadth

You bring experience across data engineering, business intelligence and analytics, with the ability to move confidently between technical discussions and commercial priorities. You can provide direction on modern data architectures while helping stakeholders turn insights into action.
Team Leadership & Influence

You've built, developed and led high-performing teams, creating an environment where people can do their best work. You also know how to influence and guide colleagues outside of your direct reporting line, building alignment and consistency across multiple teams.
Domain-Oriented Data Thinking

You have experience working within a data mesh or domain-oriented operating model, where business teams own and publish the data products and reporting facts they generate. You understand how to balance local ownership with strong governance, standards and consistency.
AI-Driven Analytics Experience

You've delivered practical applications of AI to improve how people access, explore and interpret data. Whether through natural language interfaces, agent-based experiences or semantic layers, you understand both the opportunities and the governance considerations required to deploy these capabilities responsibly.
Modern Data Platform Expertise

You're familiar with contemporary data platforms and tools, including data lakes, open table formats such as Parquet and Iceberg, ETL and ELT pipelines, multiple query engines, and BI tools such as Power BI. You're comfortable working across cloud environments including AWS, Azure and GCP, and you favour open, flexible architectures over proprietary lock-in.
Commercial Mindset

You have a track record of turning data into business outcomes, whether that's increasing revenue, improving operational efficiency, enhancing customer experiences or enabling better strategic decisions. You're able to demonstrate the impact your work has delivered.
Executive Stakeholder Management

You build credibility quickly with senior leaders and are confident presenting complex information in a clear and accessible way. You know how to challenge constructively, influence decision-making and help leaders use data with confidence.
