About this role

Job Summary:

The Director carries a caseload of approximately 15 - 20 clients per week and oversees all other C3 clinicians who provide counseling for the students of Lancaster Bible College. This takes the form of weekly 1:1 supervision with each clinician (provided they see at least one client that week). The person holding this staff position will also be responsible for handling all clinical emergencies and supervision of additional staff. This is a 10-month position with approximately 20 work days to be flexed over the duration of the summer term.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

- Recruits, interviews, hires, and trains new staff.

- Supervises interns and student workers.

- Oversees daily office workflows.

- Provides constructive and timely performance evaluations.

Physical Requirements:

- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.

Education and Experience:

- Masters degree from an accredited institution in mental health or a related field, PhD preferred.

- Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) credential.

- Experience of at least three years working in counseling, or student affairs, or a closely related field.

- Preferred history of successfully managing an outpatient counseling practice.

Duties/Responsibilities:

- Ensure that counseling services are available and accessible to all students.

- Provide office hours from August 15 – May 15 during the academic year and ensure that the Counseling Center is open on a full time basis beginning with the first day of classes through graduation.

- The Center will be open on a part time / as needed basis during breaks and during the summer term to ensure students receive the care they need.

- One month (at least 20 days) will be offered throughout the summer, by opening the Counseling Center at least once per week between May 15 and August 15.

- Maintain a caseload of 15 - 20 clients per week during the Fall and Spring semesters.

- Meet with students who seek counseling over the winter and summer terms.

- Provide a weekly log of client contact hours for each clinician to the Direct Supervisor.

- Maintain accurate, current, and confidential records.

- Oversee all other C3 clinicians/interns who provide counseling to the students of Lancaster Bible College. This takes the form of one hour of weekly 1:1 supervision with each clinician (provided they see at least one client that week).

- Be responsible for handling all clinical emergencies and coordinating staffing of front desk reception needs.

- Ensure that counseling services and special seminars are provided for all students and college personnel.

- Provide counseling to students in every area of their development including: spiritual, emotional, social, and academic.

- Develop and coordinate special interest counseling and /or support groups.

- Coordinate with Health & Wellness, Disability Services, and Residence Life staff regarding student care while respecting confidentiality.

- Provide emergency mental health on-call support as needed, with support for Student Affairs and Public Safety.

- Actively support first year experience needs related to mental and emotional student health needs, including representing C3 at SOAR and during WOW Weekend.

- Maintain accurate records of C3 referrals, usage rates and counseling caseload.

- Sit on the Student Care Committee and other committees as needed.

- Provide resources, training and seminars for students, student leaders and college personnel.

- Develop and maintain positive, cooperative professional relationships with all LBC departments.

- Adhere to legal and ethical guidelines of the counseling profession.
