Qualifications
Job Summary:
At Valir Health, people aren't just our greatest asset — they're the reason our mission moves forward every single day. As a PRN People & Culture Recruiting Specialist, you'll bring full-cycle recruiting expertise to Valir on a flexible, as-needed basis — stepping in during peak hiring volume, coverage gaps, and special projects to keep great candidates moving toward great teams.
This isn't a behind-the-desk role. You'll partner directly with hiring managers and P&C Business Partners across Valir PACE (Oklahoma City, Shawnee), Cherry Blossom PACE (Virginia), and Valir Hospice — representing Valir's mission and culture to every candidate you meet, while helping the organization build the teams we need today and tomorrow.
Duties/Responsibilities:
Talent Acquisition & Full-Cycle Recruiting
- Own full-cycle recruiting for assigned requisitions — sourcing, screening, interviewing, and extending offers — in close partnership with hiring managers.
- Perform searches for qualified candidates using databases, networking, internet recruiting resources, and employee referrals.
- Review resumes and conduct phone screens and interviews to assess work history, training, education, and job skills against role requirements.
- Support the organization's proactive, EVP-aligned recruiting strategies and pipeline-building efforts as directed by the P&C team.
- Maintain a strong, ready candidate pipeline by attending job fairs, building local market contacts, and engaging with relevant professional organizations.
Business Partnership & Candidate Experience
- Partner with hiring managers and P&C Business Partners across Valir's Oklahoma and Virginia sites to anticipate staffing needs and maximize recruiting effectiveness.
- Provide candidates with complete, accurate information about Valir Health and the specific role — including compensation, benefits, schedule, working conditions, and growth opportunities.
- Represent Valir's mission and culture throughout the candidate experience, from first contact through offer.
- Screen and refer applicants to hiring personnel, making hiring recommendations when appropriate.
Onboarding Support
- Coordinate handoff of new hires to the onboarding process, helping ensure a smooth, well-informed start.
Compliance & Documentation
- Maintain accurate, well-organized documentation on all recruiting activity in the applicant tracking system to ensure compliance.
- Apply working knowledge of federal and state employment law as it relates to recruiting, interviewing, and hiring.
General
- Lean in wherever you're needed — contributing to P&C team initiatives and recruiting priorities as they evolve, with schedule and hours varying based on organizational need.
- Any and all other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- None.
Required Skills/Abilities/Competencies:
- Communicates with clarity and confidence — written and verbal — and adjusts style depending on the audience, from candidates to hiring managers to senior leaders.
- Builds relationships naturally — candidates and hiring managers trust you quickly, and you take that trust seriously.
- Stays organized and detail-oriented in a high-volume, fast-paced environment with frequently shifting priorities.
- Trustworthy with confidential information, demonstrating tact, discretion, and a high level of personal and professional integrity.
- Is genuinely curious about the business — wants to understand how Valir works and how great recruiting drives its mission forward.
- Manages time and competing requisitions with ease — meets deadlines and follows through without close oversight.
- Comfortable adapting quickly given the variable, as-needed nature of a PRN schedule.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and HRIS/applicant tracking platforms; experience with Paycom is a plus.
Education, Licenses, Certifications and Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; Bachelor's degree preferred.
- Minimum 2-3 years of full-cycle recruiting experience.
- Experience recruiting within an HR/People & Culture business-partner or generalist model preferred.
- Healthcare industry experience preferred.
- PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP, or SHRM-SCP credential a plus.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to speak, hear, and read English.
- Lift up to 15 lbs. from floor to 36" and from 36" to 64" (occasional).
- Walk up to .25 miles (occasional).
- Sustained forward bending in sitting (occasional).
- Push/Pull up to 15 lbs. of force at 36" (occasional).
- Repetitive squat motion (occasional).
- Ability to stand (constant), sit (occasional), sustained squat (occasional), kneeling (occasional).
- Full body range of motion (constant).
- Front carry — two-handed carry of 15 lbs. up to 20 feet (occasional).
- Balance (occasional) in walking, standing, carrying, and moving equipment.
Working Conditions:
This role is primarily performed in an indoor, climate-controlled environment with occasional travel and exposure to outdoor elements. As part of a healthcare organization, this position may be incidentally exposed to a range of environmental factors including communicable diseases, hazardous materials, sharp objects, body fluids, electronic equipment, high-pitched noise, and repetitive motion.
Safe Environment:
- Demonstrate knowledge of Valir's safety program, including applicable management plans for safety, security, hazardous materials, emergency preparedness, life safety, medical equipment, and utility systems.
- Follow all infection control policies and procedures to protect self, patients, and staff.
- Observe proper body mechanics and safety precautions in all job duties.
- Report incidents involving self, patients, staff, or visitors through appropriate channels, including facility incident reporting systems.
- Operate all equipment safely and promptly report and address unsafe situations.
Growth & Development:
- Show up for all applicable training, development workshops, and mandatory annual competencies — as a P&C professional, you model the learning culture you help build.
- Proactively seek out learning opportunities that sharpen your expertise and elevate those around you.
- Welcome feedback — and use it to keep getting better.
- Invest in your professional growth through community involvement, peer networks, and continuing education.
