What you’ll be responsible for
Working in this role, you will be part of a team responsible for the operation and maintenance of Welsh Water’s underground water network.
You will help to resolve potential or actual network/leakage issues to ensure water supply is maintained and to minimise the level of inconvenience to the customer.
1. Responding to and resolving any problems raised by our customers or members of the public liaising with other departments and our contract partners when needed.
2. Ensuring Welsh Water leakage targets are met using various techniques to reduce leakage.
3. Following company health & safety procedures - being accountable for your own health & safety and having a duty of care to your colleagues and anyone affected by the work you do.
4. Dealing with sometimes difficult situations in a friendly, positive and professional manner, whilst striving for a speedy resolution.
5. Updating information in various IT systems on a daily basis.
6. Representing Welsh Water throughout the lifecycle of projects, assisting as necessary the partner through the project development, planning, approvals and statutory processes.
7. Efficiently organising your own time, handling routine work with a minimum of supervision, assessing priorities within your area of work and managing those priorities
8. Undertaking any other duties as required to meet the needs of the business.
About you
Essential Experience, Qualifications, Knowledge & Skills
Experience
- Experience of providing good customer service
- Experience of working in a team to solve problems
Qualifications
- Current full, valid driving licence
- GCSE Grade C in English and Maths, or equivalent qualification or experience in a relevant engineering, utilities, environmental, water operations or technical discipline
Knowledge & Skills
- Knowledge of the water industry
- Able to communicate well, actively listen and respond appropriately to solve problems
- Knows how to seek the opinions and experiences of others to understand different approaches to problem solving
- Able to build and maintain positive relationships with internal departments, company partners and contractors
- Able to work to tight deadlines, sometimes in difficult circumstances
- Able to use Microsoft software packages along with the company’s internal packages, for example using operational, mapping and data management systems such as GIS and other industry-specific software packages (e.g. PMAC, LIBRA and LMARS)

Hours, Location & Standby
- Hours of Work: Monday to Thursday, 8:00am to 4:00pm and Friday, 8:00am to 3:30pm.
- Standby: Participation in a standby rota will be required as part of this role following completion of training (1 in 5 weeks).
- Location: This is a predominantly site-based role with minimal office-based working.
- Vehicle: A company vehicle will be provided for business use.
