Job Summary
The Virtual Instructional Support Specialist provides comprehensive operational and technical support for online, hybrid, and technology-enhanced instruction. The position administers instructional platforms, prepares and maintains virtual course environments, supports synchronous learning and digital assessment activities, and assists faculty, students, administrators, and other instructional personnel in the effective use of academic technologies. The specialist also promotes consistent practices, reliable access, accurate records, and responsive service across assigned academic programs.

- Assist the university in implementing the statement of purpose
- Assist the university in implementing the institutional and financial plan
- Configure, organize, maintain, and update learning-management system course environments and related instructional sites in accordance with institutional, program, and term requirements.
- Establish and support synchronous virtual learning sessions, including meeting configuration, host and participant access, scheduling coordination, and recording availability.
- Provide technical assistance during assigned instructional activities, including sessions that may occur outside standard business hours as needed.
- Support the implementation and ongoing use of digital assessment, exam-delivery, and secure testing technologies.
- Develop, coordinate, and deliver technology orientations, onboarding resources, checklists, and support sessions for students, faculty, adjunct personnel, and other users.
- Provide individualized consultation and guidance that builds user confidence and promotes effective, consistent use of instructional technologies.
- Serve as a primary point of contact for assigned instructional technology needs. Diagnose and resolve routine access, configuration, integration, and user-experience issues; document actions taken; communicate status and solutions clearly; and escalate complex or system-level concerns to the appropriate internal or external resource.
- Collaborate with academic leaders, program directors, faculty, clinical or laboratory personnel, information technology staff, and other partners to anticipate instructional needs and coordinate solutions. Recommend process improvements, contribute to the standardization of technology-supported practices, and remain current with relevant platforms and support methods.

Qualifications
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in instructional technology, education, information systems, communications, or a related field; an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience may be considered.
- Experience supporting learning-management systems, virtual meeting platforms, digital assessment tools, or comparable educational technologies.
- Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot technical issues, manage multiple priorities, maintain accurate records, and provide effective support to users with varied levels of technical proficiency.
- Strong written, verbal, interpersonal, organizational, and customer-service skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with online and/or hybrid instructional programs.
- Experience with course provisioning, enrollment or roster processes, secure testing systems, instructional recordings, and vendor or license administration.
- Experience developing and delivering technology orientations, training materials, or user-support resources.
- Must have valid U.S. Drivers License and clear driving record.
Physical Demands
- Must possess mobility to work in a standard office setting, and to use standard office equipment including a computer
- Must have vision to read printed materials and a computer screen; hearing and speech to communicate in person and over the telephone
- Must have the ability to sit or stand for extended periods of time
- Must be able to maintain required schedule and perform duties in an on-campus setting
- Must be able to work outside of standard office hours to provide instructional support as needed
- Must be able to travel to all COHS sites for orientation purposes
