As a senior member of the professional staff, contributes expertise in a discipline (e.g., Accounting, Finance, Human Resources, Information Resources, Operations Planning & Support, Sales, and Marketing) area to support function and/or discipline objectives.

SPECIFIC JOB SUMMARY

Based at MVW's Singapore Region Office and reporting to the Vice President, Global Tax Planning & Projects based at the MVW Corporate Office in Orlando, Florida, the Associate Director, Tax - Asia Pacific Region serves as the tax leader for all regional business tax matters, providing strategic direction in the areas of tax accounting and reporting, tax compliance, transfer pricing, and tax planning and business advisory services for MVW entities across the Asia Pacific region.

The Associate Director contributes to the regional tax strategy and operational planning process while remaining actively engaged in day-to-day execution, ensuring operational excellence for regional tax compliance and provision processes, transfer pricing, internal control effectiveness, and audit readiness. The role requires advanced knowledge of Asia Pacific and U.S. international tax laws and of accounting for income taxes under U.S. GAAP, ASC 740, and IFRS, along with the ability to analyze complex transactions, assess tax risks, and develop well-supported positions for tax authority examinations.

The Associate Director partners cross-functionally with Finance, Controllership, Legal, Treasury, Internal Audit, and Human Resources and manages relationships with external tax advisors across the region to ensure accurate, timely, and compliant tax reporting aligned with MVW's strategic business and financial objectives.

SPECIFIC EXPECTED CONTRIBUTIONS

Regional Tax Strategy & Governance

- Translates regional and global tax strategy into operating plans, priorities, processes, and measurable outcomes.
- Leads implementation of regional process improvements and technology-enabled solutions aligned with the global Tax operating model.
- Monitors the progress, risks, dependencies, and results of assigned tax initiatives and provides timely updates and recommendations to regional and global Tax leadership.
- Identifies emerging tax, regulatory, operational, and control risks within assigned areas and escalates matters requiring broader regional or global review.

Tax Accounting & Reporting

- Manages regional country tax provision for all business entities, including income tax accounting under U.S. GAAP, ASC 740, and IFRS and return-to-provision analysis, in coordination with the local finance teams, external tax advisors, and the U.S.-based tax team.
- Delivers regional tax accounting on the global close calendar and to the methodology, format, and documentation standards set by the global tax accounting lead, escalating judgmental positions for global review.
- Manages internal controls, SOX compliance, and documentation requirements, maintaining robust controls and documentation over regional tax provision processes.

Tax Compliance

- Ensures regional compliance is executed to the global standards established for quality of work, review, documentation, and timeliness.
- Leads material tax authority examinations and coordinates regional responses with Legal, Finance, global Tax, and external advisors.
- Manages regional country tax compliance and tax audits for all business entities, coordinating with the finance teams, external tax advisors, law department, and U.S. Finance and tax teams.
- Partners with country-based Finance & Accounting (F&A) teams and external tax advisers on various tax audits in the Asia Pacific region.
- Monitors legislative, regulatory, and accounting standard changes across the region and assesses their impact on the organization, escalating developments of enterprise significance to the relevant global functional lead.

Transfer Pricing

- Manages transfer pricing processes for regional entities, ensuring intercompany arrangements, local files, and supporting documentation are implemented and maintained in accordance with MVW's global transfer pricing policy and methodology.
- Coordinates with the global transfer pricing lead before adopting or modifying any regional position so that positions taken in the region are consistent with those taken globally.
- Acts as an advisor to regional leadership on the tax implications of strategic initiatives, new product forms, and new business initiatives.
- Prepares clear, concise technical memorandums and presentations for executive leadership, external auditors, and audit committees as needed.
- Manages day-to-day relationships, budgets, and service levels from external tax advisors across the region.

Tax Planning & Business Advisory Services

- Partners with leads from various business and corporate disciplines, e.g., Marketing & Sales, Resort Operations, Inventory & Revenue Management, Resort Development, Asset Management, Legal, Global Technology, Finance & Accounting, and Human Resources, to provide business support and tax planning services including, but not limited to, new product forms, new business initiatives, M&A transactions, and tax structuring.
- Supports the regional tax planning process in partnership with and consistent with positions and policies established by the Vice President, Global Tax Planning & Projects so regional outcomes remain consistent across jurisdictions and defensible on examination.
- Supports due diligence and post-transaction integration for acquisitions and divestitures affecting the region.

Team Development

- Mentors and develops the regional tax team, setting clear expectations and key performance indicators and monitoring progress through regular talent reviews.
- Supports technical development and training for the Tax team on relevant tax developments.
- Contributes to process improvement and automation initiatives to enhance efficiency and accuracy in tax workflows, reducing manual touchpoints and operational risk.
- Fosters a culture of accountability, collaboration, inclusion, learning, and continuous improvement.
- Identifies development opportunities for self and others and independently strengthens technical, business, systems, and project-management capabilities.

- Generally a professional position requiring significant knowledge and experience in one or more disciplines and/or business operations as well as associate management experience.
- College degree and/or relevant experience generally required.

Education

- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Law, Business Administration, or similar discipline required.

Certifications Preferred

- ACA (Associate Chartered Accountant)

- CTA (Chartered Tax Advisor)
- CPA (Certified Public Accountant)

Experience

- At least eight years of progressive international tax experience with a Big 4 tax firm or at a multinational corporation supporting complex, multinational business operations based in Hong Kong, Indonesia, Japan, Singapore, and Thailand.
- At least three years of experience leading and managing teams.
- Track record influencing senior leaders and managing regional cross-functional initiatives.
- Experience managing small- and medium-scale tax projects with multiple stakeholders across multiple jurisdictions within the region.
- Expertise in U.S. GAAP, ASC 740, IFRS taxation, and accounting for international income taxes.
- Experience managing transfer pricing, e.g., implementing and maintaining intercompany arrangements, local files, and documentation under a centrally established global policy.
- Experience in tax planning, forecasting, accounting compliance, and audits.
- Experience in foreign tax credit and cash repatriation planning.
- Experience managing VAT, employment taxes, and other non-income tax issues.
- Experience with tax provision and compliance systems. OneSource strongly preferred.
- Experience operating within a functionally organized, centrally governed tax function, including translating global policy into regional processes and procedures.
- Ability to manage in high-pressure, service-intensive, and deadline-driven environments.
- Experience coordinating and directing multiple resources, both internal resources and external vendors, to accomplish tasks.
- Experience in timeshare, real estate development, or hospitality preferred.
- Experience in a matrix corporate and/or regional office structured organization preferred.
- Experience in a publicly traded, multi-business-line, international environment preferred.
