Are you an Employment Lawyer who enjoys providing practical, commercially focused advice rather than managing lengthy litigation files?

At Markel Law, we're looking for an Employment Services Advisor / Solicitor to join our highly regarded Employment Law Advice Line on a fixed-term contract, supporting our specialist Health and Social Care client base. This is an opportunity to work with care homes, charities, medical practices and social care organisations, helping clients navigate complex employment issues with confidence.

This role offers genuine flexibility, a hybrid working environment, exposure to a wide range of employment law matters and the opportunity to join a supportive and collaborative team that places client service at the heart of everything it does.

What You'll Be Doing:

As part of our Employment Advice Line, you'll provide expert telephone-based employment law advice to employers operating across the health and social care sector.

Your responsibilities will include:

- Providing pragmatic, commercially focused employment law advice by telephone.
- Advising on disciplinary matters, grievances, dismissals, absence management, performance issues and employee relations concerns.
- Managing a busy and varied caseload of client enquiries.
- Responding to client queries within agreed service levels.
- Delivering exceptional client service and building trusted relationships with clients.
- Working closely with colleagues across the wider Employment Advice Line team.
- Supporting other employment teams when business needs require.
- Maintaining accurate electronic records and documentation.

About Our Clients:

You'll advise a diverse portfolio of employers, including:

- Care homes
- Charities
- Healthcare providers
- Medical practices
- Health and social care organisations

Many of our clients are experienced HR professionals and Registered Managers, allowing you to focus on delivering high-quality legal advice and practical solutions.

What We're Looking For:

We're interested in speaking with candidates who have:

- Strong employment law experience gained within private practice, an advice line, consultancy or in-house environment.
- Experience advising clients on a broad range of employment law matters.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Confidence delivering advice over the telephone.
- A commercial and pragmatic approach to problem-solving.
- The ability to manage competing priorities within a fast-paced environment.
- Strong client relationship and customer service skills.

Ideally You'll Also Have:

- Qualified Solicitor status (England & Wales preferred).
- Alternatively, qualification in Scotland or Northern Ireland.
- If not yet qualified, active progression towards legal qualification will be considered.

Working Pattern:

We understand the importance of flexibility and welcome applications from candidates seeking either:

- Full-time hours across 5 days per week, or
- Part-time hours across 3 days per week

Working arrangements include:

- Hybrid working
- Minimum one day per week in our Croydon office
- Home working for the remainder of the week
- Participation in a rota including occasional early and late shifts to ensure service coverage.
