Position Summary:
We are seeking a dependable, safety-conscious General Labourer to join our team. This position supports shop operations by assisting skilled trades personnel with handling materials, and maintaining a clean and organized workspace, and contributing to a safe and efficient production of high-quality products.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform bead blasting, grinding, sanding, and deburring of metal components and surfaces.
- Assist fabricators and welders with handling, movement, and positioning of stainless steel, carbon steel and aluminum materials and assemblies.
- Load, unload, and transport materials and finished products using overhead cranes, forklifts, or other material-handling equipment, where qualified and authorized.
- Perform receiving inspections on incoming materials and components to verify compliance with specifications, purchase orders, and quality requirements.
- Perform dye penetrant and hydrostatic testing in accordance with established procedures.
- Perform picking and passivation of components in accordance with established procedures and safety requirements.
- Package, crate, and prepare finished products for shipment.
- Operate hand and power tools to perform basic fabrication and assembly tasks, including drilling, cutting, and measuring.
- Organize, stage, and move raw materials, work-in-progress, and finished products throughout the facility.
- Sweep floors and assist with general shop housekeeping to maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment.
- Support inventory control activities, including material identification and storage, as required.
- Follow all company safety policies, procedures, and safe work practices, including the proper use of required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Experience & Qualifications:
Required:
- Familiarity in the use of basic hand tools, grinders, and measuring devices.
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
- Comfortable working with stainless steel, steel, and aluminum materials.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs (23 kg) on a regular basis.
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, and perform repetitive tasks throughout the shift.
- Strong commitment to workplace safety, quality, and teamwork.
- Ability to work in a manufacturing environment with exposure to noise, dust, and varying temperatures.
Assets:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Previous experience in a manufacturing, fabrication, or industrial environment.
- Certification and experience operating overhead cranes and / or forklifts.
- Experience performing receiving inspections, quality inspections, or product testing.
