Gridcog is a SaaS start-up of energy nerds on a mission to accelerate investment in the clean energy transition. We build project modelling software that captures the physical and commercial detail of energy projects, front-of-meter and behind the meter, so our users can make intelligent energy decisions.

Germany is one of our most important markets. We've built a strong brand here and work with some of the most active developers, IPPs and energy companies in the country, including MaxSolar, Lintas, Suncatcher, Oegen, TotalEnergies and Shell.

Who we're looking for

We're looking for an Energy Analyst to join our Berlin office. You'll be the second person there, which means you'll have real responsibility early clear impact on the success of Gridcog in Germany and Central Europe

You've just finished a master's, or you have a couple of years of work experience, and you're hungry to get going. You pick things up quickly, you're happy to get stuck into problems you haven't seen before, and you crack on without waiting to be told. We care more about drive and curiosity than a long CV.

Customers are the heart of this role. You'll own a set of customer relationships from early on, helping them get set up in Gridcog, model their projects well and get real value from the platform.

What you'll do

Customers (the core of the role)

- Own relationships with a group of German and Central European customers, from onboarding through to day-to-day , with support from the team
- Help customers model their solar, battery and hybrid projects and answer their technical questions about the platform and the German market
- Keep an eye on how customers use Gridcog and step in early when they could be getting more out of it
- Help maintain our inputs and assumptions Library of German and Central European market prices, network tariffs and project cost assumptions

Sales and marketing

- Run product demos with prospects alongside our sales team
- Answer technical questions from prospective customers
- Write blogs, market commentary and short videos on what's happening in German energy markets
- Represent Gridcog at industry events

Product

- Share what you hear from customers with our product team and suggest improvements
- Test new features against real customer use cases

What it's like being second in the office

A lot of things won't be structured yet. Some processes don't exist, and you'll often be doing something for the first time. We want you to have a go, learn from it and improve next time. You won't get everything right first time round and nobody expects you to. Moving quickly matters more to us than getting it perfect.

You'll have plenty of support from colleagues in Berlin, London, Madrid and Australia, and you'll learn more in your first year here than you would in most graduate schemes.

To be successful in this role you will have

- A master's in energy, engineering, economics or a similar field, or up to three years' experience in the energy sector
- A strong interest in the energy transition and a lot of motivation
- Some understanding of European energy markets and the commercial options for technologies like solar PV and battery storage, from study, internships or work
- Strong analytical skills and hands-on experience with Excel, Python or similar
- Clear communication and a genuine interest in helping customers succeed
- Comfort with ambiguity and a willingness to try things and learn as you go
- Fluent English and German

We'd also love it if you have

- Knowledge of the German power market, such as FCAs, the EEG or grid fees
- An internship or role at a developer, utility, consultancy or trader
- Energy project modelling experience, from your thesis or work
- Fluency in another European language
